Essentially this:
When you pick up a heart, it disappears from your screen, but others see their own copy. This can make it confusing for new players who may think that hearts are shared per person, as well as remembering where dropped hearts are for players looking for health.
Suggestion:
Change it so that picking up a heart, rather than disappearing it, changes the heart to grayscale until it fades or all players have picked it up. For color-blind helpfulness, it could also display a "No" cross symbol on the heart.
Heart items should not fade from screen when picked up

Don't think numbers are
Don't think numbers are necessary, but making them grey and/or translucent would be great for many situations!

Why?
It could perhaps be made more obvious that hearts are player-instanced, but that's more a documentation issue. I'd rather not have extra visual noise on screen marking the positions of items I've already collected, you know?
how about there is a number on the heart that shows the number of players in the party and that number lowers as party members step on the heart NOTE: if another party member joins the hearts number increases by 1
