Well crap. Decided to start making a Divine Mantle so I could have Shadow resistance..... but then after I got to MIRACLE CLOAK.....I noticed that the Divine Veil has Damage Bonus vs. Fiends: Medium......and now I'm kinda ticked. Why doesn't the Mantle have anything special? Like seriously....99% of the time the armor and helmet are the exact same except in slot and appearence. This is the only item I've seen so far that isn't the same as it's matching body armor. I'm kinda stuck here seeing as my Miracle Cloak has no UV, so it will be hard to sell, AND I'm out of money to use on CE, I spent a total of like 600 CE and 4000 crowns just making that, plus the mist and CE spent on leveling it up.

I would love for a GM to discuss this with me, I'm pretty unhappy about this.

If it will never be changed however..... I'll be selling my Miracle Cloak for 2000 CE. Anyone interested?

There's another example...

Mad Bomber.

Well at least you got to Miracle Cloak only... you still saved 800 energy.

Or... you can finish the entire set and look cool...

mad at yourself?

The other day I bought and learned 35,000 crowns worth of recipes, before realizing that the 5-star item I was going for didn't do what I wanted. So I was upset. But I was upset at myself, because after all it was my mistake. I hope that you're mad at yourself, not the game designers, and that you forgive yourself and have fun.

just hang on to it - it may

just hang on to it - it may seem bad now but someday you'll want it for a costume or something.

Nope...

I don't want it as a costume I had to spend money I found laying around (which is rare) on CE and then this crap happens....and yes I should'nt have just started crafting the Cloak without even looking at the Veil, I assumed repitition, which is the problem. I want the two to be somewhat equal.

Meh

If it makes you feel any better, Medium Fiend isn't a game changer. If wearing only one piece of Divine it makes sense to get the veil instead since the mantle lacks the bonus, but with most encounters it will be completely unnoticed. ~15% boost on damage to fiends is rarely going to reduce the number of hits necessary to kill them... if any enemy took 7 hits to kill then you can finish them in 6.

Dude I've wasted TONS of CE

Dude I've wasted TONS of CE I've spent money on when first starting the game. It's part of learning what items you like and which you don't. Now I know exactly how things work and canspend it wisely; you will be able ot make up for it in game through buy/sell easily, trust me. You can make 5k at least off of 5* recipes on the AH, more if your lucky/good at trading.

Don't want to belittle your problem, but I have tons of 4* items and such that I don't use. Mostly, because I don't like the usual DA/GF setup. I use Brandishes and a Blackhawk, and I have a Cryo Driver and shadow Driver I don't really use, ever. Just sell it, and you will NEVER get 2k CE for it. Just eat the loss, it happens. It's part of an MMO/Action RPG. You will be able to make it back though, if you do some research. MMO's require a bit of that too. :)

Good luck and have fun!

You think that's bad? What

You think that's bad? What about people who wasted CE on Spurs, and the Triglav, and the Shadowsun set, and anyone who bothered with a Chaos Cloak?
Me I have a Triglav and it's 5 Star and I had to slave hours in that boring ass PVP to get the recipes and then craft it up just to realize a Glacius does it's job immensely better.

Also there shouldn't be inferior weapons and sets in this game so this kinda crap doesn't happen. I don't care if it's an MMO what is the damned point in making something if something story tops it in every way possible. And sorry to say buddy that item isn't getting fixed none of the inferior suck items are, get used to it, it sucks I have to deal with it too.

I hope a GM checks this out. Is that too much to ask? If they check it out and dismiss it, I'd like to know why. Won't take much to satisfy my annoyance, I just want a response.

Because you are not in the

Because you are not in the right section, to have a chance to be read the suggestions forum would be a better place. And because if you just want to contact a GM, do it in-game (but they are not supposed to deal with suggestions in game, just with bugs).

Lastly, because the guys who can actually change that probably never look at forums, and have a tons more important things to do. Understand that there are tons of other posts like yours, they don't have the time to read them all, and most are not reasonable. And they do what the heck they want with their game.

I don't really pay much

I don't really pay much attention to which sets do this, but I got the impression that when the armor & helm stats differ it's the top piece which usually has the little advantage. If it actually is always the helm, it might be to restrict us to using only one such bonus at a time. I think the wiki pages for some items ought have flags to indicate mismatched stats for some armor/helm pairs, and that there should be a category for such sets, but did you seriously say you started working toward an item and are now upset because you found out that another item is slightly better? I fail to see getting upset as reasonable; if your enjoyment of that Shadow defense is totally ruined by finding out that you could have gone for something slightly better had you noticed it earlier, I think you need to grow up rather than pester the GMs or any one else working hard to bring us this game. Most of us make investments we kick ourselves for later, it's part of life and it's part of this kind of game. I hope you can appreciate and enjoy the fact that your cloak is still really good as gear choices go; damage resistance is competitive with other options for both of its types and status resistance is way above average in usefulness.

If you know for sure you will never have desire to stack both Divine pieces, either keep enjoying what still seems from your OP to be exactly what you expected it to be, or sell it and start over for the bonus against Fiends. Were I in your shoes, I'd just keep the thing even if it were still at 2-star. I myself am going for Divine/Skolver hybrid as my primary armor set and am still working toward 3-stars but already have the second Magic piece so I can pile on extra Fire and Shock resist if I have too much trouble somewhere. I also have the second Wolver piece since I'm working toward RJP, for that matter. Being able to double up and focus on more specialised defenses might come in handy if you end up having trouble with a particular stratum, and Divine with its Shadow & Elemental defense and excellent status resists is probably more likely than most armor sets to cover the specialty you need.

I myself would very much prefer that all options occupy the Pareto frontier and could go on for pages about why I do, but am satisfied with having a wide variety of options that are at least viable because I'm not compulsively bound by such concerns. (I like Troika's funky shape and charge attack sound effect, so I got it knowing full well that the sword Kozma sells would probably be more effective.) If any piece of equipment I like the mechanics of is effective enough that I can play the game the way I want, I should enjoy using it. I obviously cannot offer knowledge of why Three Rings did any of the weird things they did in SK, but can offer a possible motive that might be comfortingly elucidating. If there are any motives for a player to choose something because it's suboptimal, there is at least one motive for the developers to make such choices possible. Stotting is perhaps the most obvious one. Also, some players like to handicap themselves to keep the game challenging and interesting for longer. I've also been told that many people feel better about their choices if they can be seen as distinctly above-average in desirability. I don't have an opinion on whether that's actually common, but I do think that for too many people choices which are clearly irrelevant from a game theory perspective are still relevant on a base emotional level. I've also noticed that many like to do things because they are unpopular, and creating gear that's distinctly overshadowed by other gear but still plenty viable would be an obvious way to cater to them. It's a minor annoyance if I happen to like such an item, since it discourages me from playing in a party, but my schedule is too irregular to form a regular veteran party and I lack the skill or CE to handle PUGs too often anyway.

I recommend that you get over it

Blackwayv: "I hope a GM checks this out. Is that too much to ask?"

Yes, I think it is too much to ask. What will come of it? There is no software bug to fix. It's not clear that there's a game design problem to fix. Even if it is a problem, what are they going to do? Add the bonus to the suit? Remove the bonus from the helmet?! What repercussions will that have? Will this set a precedent, that in every case the helmet and the suit have to match? Would they want this?

You messed up. Because I've messed up in the past, I sympathize. But I recommend that you get over it.
