Ummm, your screen's native resolution or lower? (down to 1024x600)

So if your monitor's native

So if your monitor's native resolution is less than 1024x600, you have a very old monitor. Also no.

Otherwise, yes.

Hm

I think you can make your resolution into a custom number, but then the hud gets chopped.
Here's a very old thread on how to do it http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/630

With 1024x600 you see as much

With 1024x600 you see as much as 2560x1440.
The only difference is, that in lower resolutions, the graphics look squashed and blurry. And on lower resolutions than allowed, your HUD gets chopped off.

The HUD elements have a fixed

The HUD elements have a fixed size, with positions relative to either the corners or dead center. Thats why the HUD gets squished in low res, hard to read in high res, but is always properly located.

Objects are also rendered at fixed size as well, so you do get more viewable screen area at higher resolutions.

The real difference is on aspect ratio

The game's HUD does not resize, so on higher resolutions you'll get a little more screen real state; which ends up being used by the HUD.

The real big difference comes from using a widescreen resolution, which makes you get more room on the sides. Vertically, the area you see never changes; the game just scales the camera to fit.

Well then let me correct

Well then let me correct this. You see more with a widescreen 16:9 screen than a 4:3 screen.
You should've chosen two resolutions with the same aspect ratio and then made a comparison.
