this would be a great way to spend time when youre bored to death waiting for ME. The entrance would be located where the alchemy machine is located in the town square.

>Basicly, its a clockworks simulator.<

-you can select the monster family and/or status (and specific monsters), or even BOSSES.
-multiplayer so you can goof off with your friends

-the stage is a large squre (exept for bosses)
-monsters keep spawning in rounds, like arenas

Or you could just say that

Or you could just say that you want raw numbers for everything in the game.

Worse, I can have an instant

Worse, I can have an instant Vanaduke experience with any set of gear I could want for as long as I want with all my friends, for no energy cost or time investment for creating gear. It's Garry's Mod for Spiral Knights, which would kill the PvE portion of the game entirely.

How would it kill PvE when

How would it kill PvE when everyones goal in is to hoard crowns and pump up gear? Without a reward element, the only reason people would go in is to test something out.

I'd say yes for enemies, but

I'd say yes for enemies, but save the boss experiences for, bosses.

I'd love a chance for extra combat, but I don't want the boss experiences ruined for me. Especially Vanaduke.

Also, limiting the gear to what you have, and limiting the difficulty of the enemies to the tiers you can access, just makes sense.

If you're a strict PvE

If you're a strict PvE player, why bother with buying and leveling gear when you can get an unlimited rental on anything you could possibly want, and actual combat situations to play with? You may not get tokens or heat, but frankly it scarcely matters if you can conjure up goods and an Arena strata or even a boss on the spot.

I could see it possibly working if you get a limited trial and your target is a shufflebot with a lot of health; then you get an aspirational form of advertising that acts as a hook for all the cool things you could get if you play long enough. But at the point where you have a really good approximation of the Clockworks experience, you kind of render the distinction between simulator and reality (such as it is) meaningless.

As with all RPGs, the hook is

As with all RPGs, the hook is the sense of progress as you get stronger, I just can't see the expert training hall as the only thing people would play for fun. I mean they'd still have crap gear outside it and can't do PvP. The expert training hall is like a game within a game, I mean yeah it might be fun to bash monsters around but without the sense of progress it loses its lustre pretty quickly. It feels weird to say it about a game but doing actual dungeon runs with monsters that drop loot feels more real than playing in the expert training hall.

Or you could make the training hall cost money to access like the PvP arena.
