????

i sure hope this gets fixed within the hour. because this is sort of unacceptable. please test this stuff in house before releasing. whatever bugs were fixed certainly weren't as bad as this new bug that has broken the games for mac.

You kind of end up in Limbo

You kind of end up in Limbo if your using Steam on a Mac. 1.6 will get the game running, but it still has that problem where the Steam login option isn't present.

Simply having the newest

Simply having the newest version of java installed isn't enough. If you in Windows, you need to make sure the shortcut your using is pointing to the \bin\ for the newer JRE folder. On Macs, you need to change the Java prefs to make sure the newer version is at the top of the list for JRE selection. Theres also an oddity on the OSX 10.5 where it doesn't to want to use Java 1.6 (64-bit)... still haven't found any explanation behind this.

Whoa, Starlinvf, you're almost a genius. haha It actually opened when I put the newest Java at the top, but I couldn't log in? I tried with my normal info but prompted a new knight, and it didn't auto-login with Steam like it normally does. Any ideas?

Oh and I just read about the 1.6 problem on 10.5 macs. =/ That's mine.

Its a catch 22 for Mac/Steam.

Its a catch 22 for Mac/Steam. For whatever reason, Java 1.6 on the Mac breaks the Steam login function. And while the whole situation never made sense, it didn't pose a big problem since OSX 10.4/10.5 all had JRE 1.5 available to them. I haven't heard anyone with a copy of Lion trying to see what combinations of Java work, but apparently the game runs a lot more Stable, "INCLUDING" PvP.

I run a macbook pro and have had no problems. Played last night immediately after the patch and again today. Not running Lion, didn't mess with Java, just worked. I know that doesn't help at all, but there it is there.
