Have Bosses Drop Silver Keys on a very rare basis
If you think i'll quit because you said so, you're a fool, reasoning please.
you're just looking for a cheap way out of coughing up 750CE
no matter how small of a chance, there will be a noticeable percent of the population getting keys
The default reason not to add something is "because it would take work and upset the status quo." Maybe you should offer some reasoning in favor of the idea? I can't see any upside here.
1. There's already a way to obtain silver keys in the game. I don't see an advantage to having two ways that are both based on farming.
2. Lockboxes are also required to get accessories, and they're already given out randomly. I don't see an advantage to having two necessary components that are both given out randomly.
3. As long as the main way to get silver keys is to buy them, their market value is pretty much fixed, so they're almost the same as cash. I think 750 ce is far too much cash to give out as a random prize with non-negligible probability, that's 10 or 20 times the normal reward you get for clearing a level or beating a boss.
If 750ce is too expensive for silver keys (and I suspect it is, based on falling lockbox prices), then silver keys should have their price lowered. Creating alternate ways to get them will just make people even less willing to purchase them.
As far as I can tell, this is just a feeble attempt to trick the developers into increasing overall payouts in the game.
Right then, I deem your explanation good enough for me, Have a nice day!
the cost of a key needs to be low enough that the accessory can be sold for enough to make up for the cost of getting the key, with the chance to make a profit if your selling a rarer accessory, unfortunately there a few issues with lowering key prices:
1. SK is already flooded with unopened lock boxes because no one is opening them now, they have ceased to be a rarity
2. Lower key prices = more accessories = lower accessory value = same problem as now
3. People who paid 750 CE already may feel cheated if the price is suddenly lowered so soon after accessories been released
IMO if they want to make accessories a valuable item again, they would:
1. lower the key price to a CE price where the accessory can be placed on AH and actually expect to make a sale at least in parity of CE value (right now not many people are willing to fork over +50k for an aesthetic item, something like 15-20k for a common accessory may be more marketable)
2. make lock boxes even rarer then they already are on the prize wheel
... and my more controversial opinion:
3. remove all currently existing lock boxes and start over again (let those who already have accessories keep them), maybe compensate players with 2000 cr (can't be too high or the whole economy will crash) for each lockbox they currently have, it will cheese a lot of people off but if they only just lower the price of keys the flood of accessories may just bring us back to where we are now
No way, -1.
Maybe get them using a huge amount of tokens maybe, but as drops? No way.
As someone else said, people who have bought tons of Silver Keys will feel cheated.
aight, new plan, make keys have more than one use per key, like three uses per key. That would justify the current price and probably keep the folks that bought a lot of then up happy.
You could have Tier1 Snarbolax drop lockboxes rarely
You have Tier2 JK and RT drop lockboxes occasionally and silverkeys rarely
You have Tier3 Vanaduke drop lockboxes sometimes and silver keys rarely
But obviously people disagree...
People make a big stink out of the possibility of having keys as regular drops. But lets remember what people are shelling out 750CE for.
Purely cosmetic accessories
No stats. Just something to make you look interesting. Is that worth the price of 750CE? I say no. So just make the stupid keys rare drops.
@Oakgear
If they came with stats they would be.
silver keys are overpriced... no matter how robbed or angry other players feel, they have to do something about it.
I personally STRONGLY disagree with the notion of making costume items of any kind some sort of luxury. While I'd rather OOO just have made the boxes open able without a key, its a bit late for that- this does bear some merit.
Oh, and this would be even better if it were added to the new ultimate bosses- a nice reward.
I'd be fine with this. Granted, I'd be even more fine with the keys being prizes in the prize wheel as well, or perhaps prizes in the PvP stuff, but eh.
And with that in mind, who cares if the market were to become oversaturated with keys? They're items solely meant to augment how your knight looks, not how your knight can take a hit in the game. If they were stat-changing items, then yeah oversaturation would be horrible, since then it directly impacts gameplay. But as the system stands now, there's absolutely no harm that would come from introducing alternate ways of getting keys other than pissing a few of the people who spent CE off. That, and the accessory market's pretty much stagnant because no one wants to open boxes, either because the price is too steep or the chances of getting the items they want are just too slim.
As an avid accessory collector myself, I'm to the point that I can go either way with it. Sure, those who spent money on CE to buy keys will be steamed, but I'd rather have a concept like this that's readily accessible to everyone (with tons of different results, based on how many accessories are out just right now) than the current system.
Heh, I love it when folks take my ideas and run with 'em.
@New-Dusk
Trust me, people have been ranting about the outrageous key prices since...I dunno...THE DAY THEY CAME OUT!
Eh, I get that, I just like to see ideas change and improve with input from others
i think a good option would be to be able to buy keys with tokens. just an idea.
So, Bosses drop silver keys for a chance at shadow keys?
"So, Bosses drop silver keys for a chance at shadow keys?"
This actually makes sense... seeing as how players find the bosses easy and nothing more than a grind, a 'here's a challenge for you, experienced player' received from bosses seems like a valid play.
How about collecting the boss Tokens to get a silver key or even a shadow key?
Lets say you need from each boss 25 tokens to get a silver key (100 tokens all together) and for the shadow key you need 50 tokens from each boss (200 tokens all together)
I know it sounds crazy, but the impatient people will buy it with energy while the others will do the runs.
Also it would be nice that the silver/shadow key would be a bonus prize in PvP just they will be rarer than the bomb masks.
The idea is kinda neat that the bosses drops a silver key on rare occasions like armours.
But should a random person get the key or the whole group?
Also how about to put the silver key to be in the random roulette (to make it for OOO more fair, you can get it only on Tier 3 or/and Shadow Lair).
Like this, the patient people would at least get a chance to get their iron boxes open so they can receive an accessory or the shadow keys.
And I think it happening more frequently would be fine, especially for higher-tier bosses fought solo.
