no matter how i play, in every party i find myself using a pistol or in the urgency of one...
my unic 5* weapon is a combuster and it´s fine but i dont like be a swordman (i´m making bombs now)
so i was thinking in make a "all situation pistol" but im not sure about what is the best neutral damage gun

i only know the critics on these weps
-Volcanic Pepperbox
can´t move while shooting

-Neutralizer
slow bullets
impredictible knockback

-Supernova
slowest bullets in game...

-Iron Slug
can´t move while shooting
only 2 bullets

-Valiance
???

should i go for the Valiance?

Those pesky Devilites.

VALIANCE ALL THE WAY!
But for a good all-purpose gun, use Polaris. Sure, it's elemental and as slow as Supernova, but it can shock and its knockback is the best in all the guns. (Besides Supernova and Catalyzer stuff)

My list for normal guns.

Valiance. It is the most simple to acquire, it has slight knockback, a shallow learning curve, fast bullets and moderate damage with a three shot clip makes it the best general Normal guns. However, note that it lacks crowd control

Supernova. While outclassed by Polaris, it ranks just underneath Valiance. Although it has a steeper learning curve than the Valiance, you will be rewarded with great knockback and damage. It holds the SECOND slowest bullets in the game. It is a mix of both dueling and crowd control

Neutralizer. Also outclassed by it's counterpart, it's not exactly the prime choice for a normal damaging gun. It has a steeper learning curve than the Supernova, due to its focus on charge attacks than regular bullets, and because it holds the title of the slowest bullets in the game. Amazing crowd control, but has problems with dueling

Volcanic pepperbox. It has the same basic learning curve of a Neutralizer, as its focus is on charge attacks rather than normal attacks. It's basically the same with the Neutralizer, only that you will be rooted into place with either attack or charge, so aim sharp with this one!

Iron Slug. The normal damage gun that establishes the bottom of the barrel. It lacks mobility, only has a two shot clip (the damage is poor with this one) and lacks the famous stunlock of the Callahan.

And there you go. Pick what you want, but this is my opinion.

Those resky Devilites.

I would rate it like this:
1. Valiance
2. Supernova
3. Pepperbox
4. Neutralizer
5. Iron Slug

Iron Slug is my last choice 'cause it can stun you. . .fail. I only like Catalyzer 'cause of the shadow and poison in its later stages, Neutralizer neutralizes (Horrible pun, I know) my love for grenade launchers without the shadow and poison. Iron slug is still worse. Supernova is a so-so, as Horizonknight said, outclassed by Polaris: only get Supernova if you're into collecting, Polaris would still be the better choice. Pepperbox? So-so too, fire is a good add-on. Supernova outclasses it, but Valiance is still the overall best. Shoots like a normal gun (albeit the energy bullets) so it can be used really easily.

thank you guys!!!

thank you all!!
i forget to mention, i have a Radiant sun shards (+ volcanic demo helm) and the Kilowatt Pulsar, but the kilowatt and the combuster are the same type of damage so i wasn´t coinsidering it outside of FSC (and before making it 4* i was searching for a good pistol to end what survived the bombs) so im gonna make the Valiance

Hmm

I had a Valiance for a long time, reminds me of the Proto Gun but with good damage and knockback. But then I created a Polaris and haven't used my Valiance since. Sure it isn't Normal damage, but you should not shoot Beasts and don't really need to shoot Gremlins (and there are better guns for Menders.)

Since you want to go more in the bomb direction, I'd recommend the following set:
Leviathan
Some Bomb
Some Bomb
Polaris

Or if you are fighting in an Undead or Construct strata:
Combustor
Electron Vortex
Levi or Some Bomb (non-elemental weapon, in case of gremlins)
Polaris

^^^Devilites couldn't agree more.

Basically my title. My point exactly with Polaris: even Valiance bows down to it. Even better than all normal damage guns. Mostly because they're under powered versions of they elemental/piercing/shadow counterparts. e.g.: Polaris, Biohazard, Blitz Needle and Callahan.

Overall the Polaris has the

Overall the Polaris has the highest utility out of all the guns. Enemies that you want to engage at a distance are mostly susceptible to Elemental damage. That includes the Howlizer, Gunpuppies, Lumbers and MechaKnights. Fighting Polyps doesn't get the damage bonus, but are easy enough targets. Resistant targets like the Gremlin and Beast also have a tendency evade projectiles, but you still get a decent chance of landing knockback with the blast.

The Needler, Angitua, and Magnus series have the fastest projectiles, and are the only guns that can reliably hit Fiends and Wolvers. Unfortunately they're almost useless against Turrets and each carry a risk in combat. You probably still wouldn't see them very often if they weren't so effective during a Vanaduke fight.

I really like my valiance.

I really like my valiance. But I haven't used it in ages!

My polaris... I don't think a single serious loadout of mine doesn't have it included.....
Even my 3 sword + 1 gun loadout --> Gun = Polaris.

polaris is probably the best

polaris is probably the best choice if you are taking one gun.
it is really good for killing turrets.
not swinging a sword, i never use polaris because i favor an elemental alchemer's damage and effective range, it is also redundant to have two elemental guns.

Polaris is probably the best

Polaris is probably the best all around gun in the game. Its only weakness is that it's fairly weak in many danger rooms (especially gremlin/beast rooms) and not particularly great for Vana.

Polaris isn't neutral damage...

I've got to say that it's a bit conditional. I honestly made a Supernova before Valiance and have completely dropped the 'nova because it usually makes things harder for my general open-party run. When I get friends and folk who know how to play, it's great, but otherwise it ends up tossing monsters around too much for the average beginner to adjust to easily. That probably won't matter for most though.

I find that Valiance's very slight knockback (KB) is pretty interesting and useful for getting out of little, one-inch-hit situations like a Retrode preparing to swing just when your second shot hits and you're low on health. It also interestingly does minor splash damage and will KB multiple enemies with normal shots, so it's not exactly single-opponent use.

Also, iron slug does not stun you. I've been using one for months and have not been stunned by it once. Who keeps circulating that myth?

Look at the stun page in thw wiki.

Try to change it and your edit will be reverted back to its original. It does stun. Yes. It Does.

supernova is ok

Supernova is ok. I know cuz I am an avid user of it. However if you like friends then you might wanna be aware in what I call the "pulsar frenzy". I meant using it for the first time and randomly shooting. I know its tempting but I dunno if it's just me but I guess any first time users of it is tempted to shoot it randomly. I admit I was affected by this frenzy but use it long enough and you'll be able to handle the frenzy. I'm saying this because I want people to be aware of this urge especially for people aiming for its 5star lines, but also want people to be considerate of other people who just use it forbtue first time l. This by bracing for a bumpy run and not rage quit (except for boss runs and wasting a lot of energy on revs). That is all: )

Those pesky Devilites.

@Usaada
Why would I? I would never spend energy getting a gun as bad as Iron Slug. I would've rather have its stunning/fiend and beast killer than a normal damage sniper wannabe. The Magnus lines seems like it was built specifically for hitting beasts and fiends accurately, and so does Iron Slug, but since it doesn't have piercing OR stun, it's the obvious second to Callahan. I only use Callahan on fiends, beasts and gremlins (Stunlock!) but never on anything else because there are many other guns I would prefer. Stunning/piercing gun or normal/not stunning gun? Even if it doesn't stun you, I couldn't care less because I would never use it on ANYTHING. I would rather get one gun for each type than a normal gun, especially Iron Slug. But if I did, Valiance will be my unrivaled first-choice.

I think it really does not

I think it really does not stun you, I guess the original guy that wrote "stuns you at charge" meaned that you cant move due the massive knockback the weapon does. However - it's a completly useless weapon, allways use Callahan .... but I will build myself one too, because i wanna have every single gun ingame^^

ASI changes everything.

Even extremely useless weapons can sell for a lot with ASI UV. 30k is still not very much for a ASI med on a 5* weapon.

Iron Slug and Callahan both

Iron Slug and Callahan both don't stun the user on charge, and Valiance is definitely the way to go. I have the Supernova and the knockback is a little too much to use effectively unless the monsters are against a wall, the shots tend to cause teammates to miss or be just out of range for sword users so it really messes people up. Maybe if you're one of those solo-only guys I would pick the Supernova.

Fradow, you missed a spot

Fradow, you forgot to comment on using AP against beasts.

People always say that AP is hard to work into an optimized loadout, but they rarely demonstrate it so well.

Don't get me started on using

Don't get me started on using Antigua line on dodgers ...

Well, i didn't even take the time to try to decipher this mass of characters which hardly mean anything. I remembered that hold thread, checked the date ... it's enough to know the OP probably already have his answer.

And well, lol at using Polaris for a gunner. Not going to explain here, tons of threads explain why you shouldn't.

If someone manages to find that thread and read through the bottom, the short answer is :

Go for Valliance.
