I'd like a rental shop in Haven, where I can go try out new weapons for a small fee. The room would have a "danger room" that you pay 100cr to enter. In the shop part you can rent any weapon or armour you want to try out, and the "danger room" will configure itself for your testing. Obviously, when you leave the danger room, you don't get to take the new item with you...

That way, you can really "try before you buy"!

I think this is good as it will encourage people to try and experiment with new gear.

You would not have seen a SINGLE catalyzer in the game if this feature was live back then. :P

the issue you must address is

the issue you must address is the possibility that this will result in players halting their progress altogether, because they can test drive the equipment all they want for a low cost, effectively driving people away from buying energy.

how about 5 energy entrance fee and the rental shop has a crown cost to rent premade sets of equipment? (crown costs would increase with star level)

I like this concept, I'm not

I like this concept, I'm not sure the best way to implement it though.

Since there's so many complaints about mats being useless (though my add on won't help much I suspect), how about to use these weapons, you still have to supply the materials for whatever weapon you want to use. Add on whatever crown fee you feel is appropriate but just having it cost materials might be sufficient (since if you don't have the mats for a DA, you'll have to buy them).

The concept of "try before

The concept of "try before you buy" means that you don't pay anything til you've had a chance to try. I'm for it, but I'm completely against paying.

well I wouldn't want it to be

well I wouldn't want it to be entirely free. As awesome as that seems, it goes back to it does absolutely nothing for OOO. I don't think the number of people buying CE would increase dramatically against the ones that already aren't if there was a try for free place.

On that same note, that's almost another reason not to bother with this idea at all, when people make the wrong weapons, they regret it but hey that means CE was used.

While a material cost/crown cost doesn't exactly inspire CE purchases, at least it would mean some sort of currency is being transferred. You know, someone might sell CE just to get the mats to get in for a test run, then proceed to sell more CE to get that weapon :D (instead of just selling CE to get the weapon, an extra step that helps the economy)

Discovering on your own what

Discovering on your own what you like is probably one of the biggest draws of this game. It is a lot of fun when you get some new weapon and you realize you're very comfortable with it and its fighting style. I don't like the idea of players testing every single weapon and then settling on a few weapons and never touching the rest.
