Hiya,
Here is my laptop:
Acer Aspire 4741G, Intel i5 Dual Core 2.27ghz (1st Gen), Nvidia Geforce GT 320M [1GB Dedicated], 4GB DDR3, Windows 8 DP [Build 8102].
Running latest card drivers...

Every time I click into fullscreen I get a problem randomly it will flash and parts of the screen will have this grey tinge to it for a second. It happens a few times every 10 seconds, I have noticed. I x out of full screen and it is fine... I wouldn't mind if it wasn't for the fact the top bar of the windows ui ends up cutting off part of the top/bottom of screen. As I would need it slightly lower height resolution currently 1366x768 [Laptop's maximum] the only one with lower height cuts the width to 1024. So quite an unnecessary jump there. Is there a solution for my fullscreen problem? I would try screenshot but I don't think I have quick enough reflexes. It is definitely distracting though.

Thanks :)

Windows 8 DP - as in

Windows 8 DP - as in Developer Preview. Your talking about an untested operating environment, with unknown UI behaviors. Honestly, this isn't the first place you should be looking for a solution.... at least not without doing research on it first. But that kind of comes with the territory.

You should be searching for developer forums with reports of the new UI bleeding into full screen apps, or problems with overlays. You may also want to poke around for Java dev forums for any discussions about the DP release. Once you have at least a slight idea of how the environment works, it'll be easier to collaborate with other users on how to approach troubleshooting.

.... and now I have new project this weekend. Finding a machine to install the Win8 and play around with stuff.

It doesn't seem to represent

It doesn't seem to represent any of the new UI..... As its all weird shaped etc. The only thing which would cover the area of the grey parts which appear would be the Start (Menu) Screen, which still wouldn't make sense since that sorta covers the whole screen and doesn't seem like it would fit... I have played other steam games in full screen, other applications in full screen.

Anyway in the read this/do this first post it says:

"5.Double-click each of the below registry keys (if present) and type in the corresponding value:
a.display_mode = 1024, 600, 32, 60
b.fullscreen = false
c.render_quality = /L/O/W
d.vsync_enabled = false"

If I edit the display mode parameters to fit my screen nicely would that work? Or can they only be some predetermined fixed amounts, 1024 etc. or can i set to 1366, 680, 32, 60 to fit my screen?

Thanks

Those are the same entries

Those are the same entries used by the in-game video options menu. Theoretically you can set it to anything while in windowed mode, but full screen mode it MUST match a supported resolution for your monitor, or it'll crash the game.

Also, are any of those games OpenGL, and are you using standard or beta drivers?
