they should make it that using a shadow key unlocks a shadow lair permanently for the person with the key.

Or so they can -play- the levels? I honestly don't give a rat's butt about the new equipment, but I'd like to try some new levels without having to gamble.

With the current structure, farming the armor is the best way to pay for many runs, therefore there are a lot of people who farm.

If they structured it like any other boss, yeah, some people would still farm, just like they farm the current bosses, but many others would just go for the challenge and to do something new.

Per person, in CE, it only

Per person, in CE, it only costs...
Shadow keys cost 1500 CE total,
1500 divided by 4 is 375 CE per person.

Now into crowns
Assume 100 CE= 6000 CR (I just bought some for 6071)
6000 divided by 100 is 60, so 60 crowns is 1 CE,
since a shadow key costs 375 CE per person, 60 times 375 is 22500 crowns for one fourth of a shadow key.

22500 crowns is less than a five star recipie. Guess what you get at the end? An alchemy machine with five star recipies in it. So I've already proven that it isn't even in the slightest notion expensive.
I did some more math, and for it to cost 25000 per person, the total key would be 100000, so 1500 CE would have to cost 100000, so 100 CE would equal 6666 and two thirds of a crown. So you can pay 66 crowns per CE and still pay less than a five star recipe.

Alright, now let's demo what would probabaly happen if you could permenantly farm it;
All endgame players buy a permenant key and get infinite crowns. The crown surplus lowers the crown demand thus spiking the price for CE. Endgame players have all the money, and lower players cannot afford CE. (Hold on, class warfare? The rich having all the money? WAIT A SECOND)

READ HERE TO SKIP TEXT;
Shadow keys only cost 22500 crowns per person.
Making a permenant shadow key would spike the CE price.

No, you have just shown that you haven't thought things through. Many people will not want those pieces of equipment, a "good deal" on something you don't want isn't a "good deal". Second, even if you want that equipment, you aren't going to want a half dozen copies of it. Using your logic, you are forced to buy this 5* recipe every time you make a trip. Third, even if you do want a couple of copies of the armor (different UVs for different situations), using a recipe lets you spread the cost, shadow lairs don't.

The much higher crown drop rate is probably worth much more than the alchemy machine.

Again, the problem with the high cost of shadow lairs is that it focuses people on the cost, rather than the fun of new content.

True, true, 100% true. I did most certianaly think it out though, and I'm pretty sure that you'll make well over 22500 crowns extra profit from playing those levels as opposed to the regular vannaduke dungeon. I just didn't write that becuase I thought it was pretty obvious. Basicaly you can play the dungeon whenever you want, you just have to have 22500 crowns before entering. It's like a membership card. You theoreticaly can make back 22500 crowns and then use those 22500 crowns again and again, while having fun and making profit. It keeps people from milking one level over and over again, and forces them to attempt the whole run. The materials themselves at the very end go for enough money to cover the cost and then some. The only problem that arises is the fact that it's a CE sink, but CE hasn't spiked, so we seem to be in the clear.

"your prerogative, not the general consensus"

And how do you know if the general consensus is whether they want farming, or gameplay? I heard a lot of people would like something new to do, armor or not. Heck, they could make a version where they don't award the armor and I bet people would still play.

That does give me an idea of a non-key version of the shadow lair that simply withholds the armor-related rewards if people want to simply try the levels.

Since the area doesn't drop

Since the area doesn't drop crowns or heat, but does give access to the new armors, its going to go the way of the Sealed sword. People are going to farm the area like mad to get the end prize, and once they get it, they'll continue to do so to sell of the mats until the market saturates itself. The "rare" armors will no longer be rare, the only logical reason to attempt it is to make the crafting trip, and completely short change the life span of the content. Rather then being difficult goal, its going to be no more meaningful then your 100th Vanaduke run... then we'll demand even more content, blow through that on the same merits as this thread, etc etc, ad infinitum.

I was actually excited with a chunk of content that would give a nice mid term goal that couldn't be farmed through in a week or so. But then keys.... and now I'm just waiting on my buddies to get their act together so we can go farming.
