Me: Hey E, long time no see, sup?
E: Im good. So how is this new Shadow Lair thing? Any good loots?
Me: Yea, there are 6 sets of new equipment.
E: ...
Me: What?
E: I need incentive to play the new stuff, like a new weapon.
Me: Sorry no new weapon in this patch.
E: OK see you guyz later.

Guild member E logged off.

OOO, see how you guys miss out a business opportunity here?

We haven't had any new

We haven't had any new weapons since the PvP update. And what about guns? Most of them aren't even worth using.

Aren't we at the point where

Aren't we at the point where we have more weapon types then we do armor? The problem with adding new weapons is they make much bigger changes to combat, and are far more difficult to balance then an armor set. Granted they are more interesting, but weapons require way more thought in mechanics, applications, and stats then armors do..... and every time a new weapon with a different mechanic was added, it majorly shifted gameplay. How many alchemers have you seen in use since the Polaris was introduced?

Also, more people would use Alchemers, if they noticed the drawbacks of Polaris. Polaris sucks IMO.
... and who cares if it shifts gameplay. A shift is nothing bad. People should just think more, so the game stays fun for everyone and doesn't become random attacking and dying.
I think OOO should decide, if it is far more difficult to balance then an armor set and if it's still okay to do it.
I don't see why it is a problem to have more weapon types than armor. (I guess even in real life there are more kinds of weapons than armor.)

I'm just in for more variety.

Balancing inexorably takes awhile - no game is ever in equilibrium when changes are first implemented.
My only concern is just to increase the available gameplay styles - so far what I would like to see with the new weapons/armor would be to diversify available options for the game, and to make more options available for people who prefer different styles of combat.

More importantly, replay value would be enhanced greatly. If you're already at 5*, reasonably rich and bored out of your mind, new equipment would at least get you to delve back into the Clockworks to obtain them. Granted, the Shadow Lairs' armors were pretty darn useless, but I do know a few lads who get them simply because they have nothing better to do, or just for aesthetic appeal.
