As we all know, the lack of specialization in the Cobalt armor and helmet makes it below average in higher tiers. To make it equal, I propose a buff for it.

First, it should offer 1 extra health compared to the other armors in its tier. For example, a Nameless Hat provides +5 extra health, so the Azure Guardian Helmet should give a +6 extra health bonus.

Also, it should have an effect on shield health. For example, Mighty Cobalt Armor would provide a low increased shield health bonus.

In closing, these additions would increase the popularity of the Cobalt and Azure Guardian Sets and make them better overall without overpowering them. Thank you for reading my suggestion.

Not for the extra hp. That's OP, due to the fact that it's too well rounded. Extra health is good in every scenario. Sheild buff is cool but should be it's own line.
New lines would be cool, prehaps one with elemental as opposed to peircing?
Generaly they should have stun ressistance, that's about it. If you check the stats, wolver does have slightly less defense. Mix cobalt and jelly and you get even # of peircing and normal, but mix wolver with jelly and the bars are off by a low amount.

The best way to make it popular is to make it so you can open the face of the 5*. Lots of people stop the helm at 4* becuase it looks cooler. Also, cobalt accsesories. Cool and heavy aren't close enough. Wanna side blade, it would match the azure guardian's swords.

I think adding +1 HP would be OK because the Cobalt Set is supposed to be appropriate for any situation; the others are for specific situations or specialized players. Also, the Vitasuit adds +7 hp at Tier 4, and it's not overpowered.

Vitasuit only adds six, the line stops at four star. So it has the Hp of a 5*. Same for T2, there is no 3* vitasuit, or even 1* vitasuit. It's used for when you want to dive deeper than you should. Your HP can be on par with higher players, while you sacrifice defense. (also teir is diff than star* level)

Adding one HP would make the Azure Guardian equal to other 5* armors. Also adding an increased movement speed bonus would also help.

Not too many buffs though.

"The Spiral Quartermaster reliably sells special Spiral gear, weapons and recipes with 'average' stats that allow you to be competitive in each tier."
- taken from the wiki.

Essentially, the Cobalt sets allow for a more balanced approach - of course their defensive capabilities will never surpass those with specialized sets, but on the bright side there isn't really any vulnerabilities offered by Cobalt sets. If you are playing a specialist, Kozma equipment is, by default, marginally worse than the equipments purchased from Basil, for instance.

Similarly, the Calibur line of swords offer a more all-rounded approach to swordplay; surely their damage or speed will never surpass a Flourish, for instance, but at least they aren't weak to anything in particular.

Just something to consider - so long as it isn't too 'above average', I'm fine with the buffs. :)

Ancient Plate set already has the health bonus, but speed reduction. You want the opposite on a common set thats easy to obtain.

They're still different. Azure Guardian has Piercing defense but no status resistance/vulnerability while the Ancient Plate does (since there is currently no way to have Sleep inflicted on a knight, it's practically just resistance and no vulnerability). Also, the Ancient Plate has much greater Normal defense (well, according to the Wiki). I think only health bonus would be fine but a speed bonus might be a bit too good. Or maybe low Elemental and Shadow defense instead of an HP bonus.

How I see it is that the Azure Guardian (Cobalt set in general) is the Control armor set, available for the basic and a bit higher. Other items have problems in T1 until T2 comes in, offering damage other than normal, which is what the cobalt set is already equipped with for piercing. As a "control" or very generic armor set, it's definitely useful and almost the Icon armor for Spiral Knights, and even gains reputation with the infamous Almirian Crusader. Cobalt is very useful in T1 above all other sets because of the boss and constant spikes and barbed wire, not to mention those tricky beasts and jellies. However, Cobalt loses a tad bit of usefulness against the final boss, Vanaduke, as well as that one other boss that does not deal piercing, Roarmulus. It's a good armor set already, but like Pikachu in Pokemon (Sorry for the comparison) it may not be the most useful in all circumstances, or even "worse" than many other armors. I see the Cobalt set as a very fair armor set to get already, and if there's a buff, that's great, but I see no current necessity for such upgrade, even during this period where weapons are being nerfed. (See Divine Avenger [Charge], Combuster [Charge], etc.)

isn't the cobalt line

isn't the cobalt line supposed to be the "standard" essentially the the mario, as it stand is does a pretty good job of that and no need to buy it from others since kozma has the recipes

so ja, like said above just as long as the stuff stay in the good but not the best your doing pretty good, i don't know about the extra hp perhaps on 5* since before then it would make it better then the vita series but then again for the hp in the vita series you lose all but normal def but at 5* you have pretty good armour to compete with but in the end it still has the be the baseline armor set

though in the end we still have alot of monster type bosses unaccounted for and the swarm starting corrupt the clockworks
