In the game i was invited by strikerstorm and he says that energy is high as
> where you should stop the bids and keep it that way for 2 days and not allow
> any prices for bids over 5,500 crowns. He also said you should have a minimum
> of 3,600 crowns per bid. Multiple players agree, even the 4-star and 5-star
> players

what throws me off this is

what throws me off this is that you refer to yourself in the third person...

from what i can understand, you are suggesting a price cap on energy in the energy market... that will never happen. this is a player runned economy OOO shouldnt interfere directly

Econ 101 Fail

I'm afraid to ask, but....what do you think would actually happen if the game just didn't allow you to enter energy prices over 5500 crowns? Do you think that everyone in the entire game would be able to buy as much energy as they want at a price of 5500?

Because here's what would actually happen:

  1. No one will sell their energy on the exchange anymore. Everyone will start selling it over trade chat instead. Prices would still be just as high, only now you'd need to conduct a face-to-face transaction if you want to buy any, and it would be much harder for both buyers and sellers to figure out a fair price.
  2. If the game somehow magically stopped anyone anywhere from trading energy for more than 5500 crowns, or for any goods or services that are WORTH more than 5500 crowns, then people would sell energy for 5500 crowns. But there would still be more people trying to buy energy than trying to sell it at that price, so a bunch of people would just be unable to buy energy at all, no matter how many crowns they had.

Is that really what you want? Because anyone with any knowledge of economics could tell you that's what your suggestion would accomplish.

If you want to make sure the price never actually goes above 5500, the thing they would have to do is add an NPC vendor who can magically create and sell an unlimited amount of crystal energy for 5500cr per 100ce. Now, sure, that's possible. Both crowns and crystal energy are virtual goods that exist only in the game, the developers can create as much or as little as they choose. But try to answer this: why does crystal energy even EXIST in the first place, rather than just having the game charge crowns for everything? Can you come up with any believable answer to that question that also makes your suggestion sound like a good idea?

And while we're at it, how did you come up with the number 5500? That's clearly NOT the number at which you would rather buy CE with real money instead of with crowns, or you would already be buying CE with real money right now, at which point you would want the price to be higher (so you could sell it for a lot), not lower. So how did you pick that number? Is it based on some sort of mathematical analysis of income and costs in the game? Or did you just pick the lowest price you've ever seen and decide that if you got that price once, you should be able to get it always?

TL;DR

You implement a maximum price ceiling, and ultimately you're creating a shortage of CE in the market.
Sure, it's a whole lot cheaper to obtain (if possible), but then you'd make it even harder for players (particularly new ones who are not familiar with the game dynamics) to obtain CE.

Therefore, no, no and a thousand NOs over and over again.
