Right now I have Barbarous Thorn Shield. It's nice and all, but I want something for other uses. I already have plans to get the Crest of Almire, but in the meantime, what's a good elemental shield? I know Grey Owlite is typical, but what about something the the Dragon Scale Shield? I can see there really is a lack of variety in 5* shields, I only count twelve, and of those, three only block Normal damage. If my armor is any deciding factor, right now I use a mixed bomber set, but I'm later planning on going divine/skolver or perhaps some combination with Snarbolax armor down the road.

depends on the situation...
depends on the situation... owlite is great against retrode beams (pure ellemental) barb is good against piercing (wolvers and jelly's) alltough an alpha wolver WILL destroy any shield with it's 3 blows. so yeah for ellemental owlite still is the best (if you don't mind beeing to mainstream)

If you plan to do Ultimate
If you plan to do Ultimate Snarby runs go for a Dread Skelly Shield. If you can get a Piercing UV on it then you'll be golden. ;D
You have the Barbarous for piercing, wouldn't the split defense of Dragon Scale be redundant and somewhat bad, seeing as normal defense is also important? Most robots, the primary monster source of elemental, also deal normal.
