all the other swords that are made off the brandish line can iflict a status affect except the nightblade line. wouldnt it be awesome if it could inflict some sort of "shadow fire" it would be like the combuster's staus affect "fire" but it would be a dark flame and inflict shadow damage periodically just like fire damage. if this has already been suggested before my bad,and i apologize for any misspellings

Aside from the color that would be the same as fire though, plus they would have to make a whole new status effect just to be the same as fire but in a different color...

Acheron is designed to kill

Acheron is designed to kill slimes. Oilers are slimes that can't be killed with fire.
See the problem? We also have Combuster.

The Cautery Sword is meant to

The Cautery Sword is meant to eradicate the noob population, don't you know? I agree, a pure Jelly King killing sword is a horrible idea, also boost the cautery to have better DPS than the nightblade against slimes, it's ridiculous.

The Cautery Sword existed

The Cautery Sword existed along with the other 3 Brandishes when they all only went to 3*. Specific (and the current) resist/weakness tables for monster families did not exist at its introduction either, so being a Normal damage melee with a DB Slimes, it was something to consider within the Brandish series [Slimes were not weak to Shadow at the time.]

Of course, it went moot after said tables were implemented, especially so after the other lines gained 4* and 5* upgrades.

I agree actually. Maybe Poison or Curse (if Curse, then weaker than Gran Faust's?).

Curse should work

There are many swords that share status effects across the swing patterns. Triglav and Glacius. Furious Flamberge and Combustor. The list goes on. Why not have Acheron inflict curse?

On the same note, where are the other sword speeds that inflict remaining statuses? (Fire, stun, freeze are pretty well covered) I think these are all likely future additions. I would enjoy a three swing poison sword.

I agree with Negatory. The

I agree with Negatory. The Acheron line's in-game descriptions fit with a Curse effect, and it's consistent with the Faust line, currently SK's only other Shadow-damage blades.

I have been thinking on curse

I have been thinking on curse lately to be honest. I kinda want them to water it down, either in duration or damage or both, so that it can be made more common. I would love to see curse based version of all monsters across all stratums, as well as allowing it to be more common. Curse right now exists for enemies only in graveyards and the FSC shadow lair, and for players only in vials, sealed swords, faust and grand faust.
