Just throwing this one against the wall.

The shield would have zero health and defensive properties. Instead, when activated, the shield would cause the knight to instantly teleport in the direction of movement by a fixed distance, at which point the shield would break and you'd have to wait for it to recharge to use it again. (It could perhaps charge slightly faster than a normal shield)

Of course, it would have to be coded so that you wouldn't be able to teleport to places that you wouldn't otherwise be able to reach, like through closed gates or over walls or whatnot, and if you tried to blink over spikes or a status trap, it would act as if you had walked very quickly over it.

Thoughts?

So if one takes damage during

So if one takes damage during "teleports" over hazards, would one take damage when "teleporting" past an enemy attack (Ex: Zombie breath attack, Retrode beam attack, etc.)?

Sounds a bit like the Striker

Sounds a bit like the Striker Dash....

more suited for PVP

Also sounds like you got the idea from Alien Swarm.

@Windsickle Just map hazards,

@Windsickle Just map hazards, to keep the shield from breaking map designs that use spikes or traps. You still want to be able to avoid monster-created hazards, since that's sort of the point of having a shield, even though this one gives up most of its direct defensive abilities.

@Batabii It was inspired by starcraft actually. I haven't played Alien Swarm, but I'm sure the mechanic shows up in a few games.

reminded me of wc3. idk,

reminded me of wc3. idk, depending on the range and cool down it sounds like you could easily break things like obstacle courses, murder healers with extreme ease and otherwise be totally OP. if they took the right steps i think it would be a pretty fun mechanic to use, but this adds a whole different type of weaponry to SK that i feel like they've been avoiding.
