Spiral Knights will not launch by steam.

I've tried all methods, read the whole forum. Can anyone help? When I click Play, the launching spiral knights rectangle appears for less than a second and disappears, and the game never launches. I've reinstalled for about 3 times and still, same problem.

My graphics card is NVIDIA Geforce GTX 560, with the latest driver. I've also installed the latest Java version.

Please help. Thanks.

That'll point you to the web launcher for the game. The client files are exactly the same, but this way Steam can't hide the error messages.

Thanks for your reply Starlinvf, but I want to play through steam. That's my original account. I've been playing through steam during july but I stopped for awhile. When I go to the launcher, Spiral Knights comes out but how do I play with my steam account? Is there something wrong with my steam? Could you tell me what's the problem? Thank you for your assistance.

The problem is the game

The problem is the game client is running into some kind of early execution (probably during getdown), and Steam will intercept it, be unable to recognize the error (typical for non-steamworks games), and lets the game close without showing any kind of error. Right now we're trying to figure out if its a general java error, or something specifically wrong with the install.

If the web launcher works, my money is on the Steam overlay or a corrupt install. In the game library, right click spiral knights, properties, then uncheck "enable steam community in-game". If the game works, then something is wrong with Steam.

From there look in the steam folder for "GameOverlayRenderer.log". Re-enable the Overlay for SK, let it crash out then check the log file.

If disabling the overlay doesn't let it launch right, then delete the game from Steam, go into C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\ , delete the Spiral Knights folder, then try installing again.

Yes thank you so much for

Yes thank you so much for your help. It is able to work after I uncheck steam community in-game. Just curious, how do I fix the gameoverlay problem?

Its hard to figure out.

Its hard to figure out. Most people just reinstall (or rollback if its a recent update) video drivers, and do a refresh of the Steam client.
