there are other spots you can get trapped. For example, in the second munitions factory stage, you hit the 3 buttons and all the quicksilver slimes come out. To the right there is a section that sometimes has 1-2 boxes and there is a gate in front of it. If you step in to get the box and someone throws the switch then you are stuck until they let you out. At least all those gates are linked though, so they can't proceed with the stage without letting you out.
either way, locking someone in a spot is just being a jerk. I'd be upset at you to if you didn't let me out.
