Just a question I want to pose to the forum:

Which Elemental Alchemer for Firestorm, or Nova?
-For Dedicated Handgunners? How about just as an off-hand for Swordsmen or Bombers?

How about Gunner/Sidearm value for Tier 3 Lockdown?

Opinions appreciated.

Back in the old days there were no pulsars

For FSC I would say Nova Driver though the Storm Driver works good too.

For LD use an Umbra Driver since elemental and pierce defense is so common

both nova and storm works

both nova and storm works great in fsc. but i prefer the storm over the nova because it spreads and interrupts zombie jumps (which is great in a tight space like fsc).

LD: umbra for damage, status alchemers to annoy

-.-

I'd say Nova, just for its higher damage output. To keep zombies in check, have a bomber with a Voltaic Tempest on his/her arsenal in your team.
If you are a bomber, I believe a sword with high knockback would be more useful than an an alchemer. As a swordsman, the nova works well, too. It's fun to oneshot turrets with its charge ^_^.

Gunner: alchemer

I have found that with the exception of some turrets, every time i reach for a gun I prefer the Storm Driver over the Polaris. Alchemers are more effective and less disruptive against mobile targets; the latter is especially important playing in a group. A swordsman will want Polaris to deal primarily with turrets at range, but a gunner will want alchemers because of better damage output and less chaos. I've been thinking about a Nova Driver for some time now, but my Storm Driver has been very serviceable.

On a side note, has anyone else noticed that the Umbra Driver's bolts are less 'sticky' than the Storm Driver's? I seem to consistently get more hits with the Storm than the Umbra. A guildie mentioned it might be because the Storm driver bolts travel slightly slower, causing them to linger a little longer. Anyone able to anecdotally confirm this?

@mohandar that's how i felt

@mohandar that's how i felt too. it feels harder to do the trick shots with the umbra AND nova when compared with the storm and magma

Don't break the freeze!

If you tend to go solo/ with 1 other person, try Hail Driver.

Storm vs Polaris

I've got both, and honestly I like the Storm for one reason: Sword and Gun combos. Often, my DA will knock something out of range, and I have enough room to pull a gun, shoot once, then move in with my next combo. This is doable with the Storm, but is nearly impossible with the slow speed and possible knockback of the Polaris. Much easier to put damage on a group with this too, since you're often herding with a DA to maximize damage.

On a related note, it'd be nice to have a fourth element that cancels with shock damage. It's a little unbalanced how fire and ice interrupt each other, but shock damage is almost universally good (except against itself). Maybe a use for that missing sleep status :)
