Monsters in lockdown as a map hazard

Couple related suggestions for new maps, or even possibly retrofitting into some areas on existing maps.

First idea: team-aligned respawning howlitzer/polyp/gunpuppies or mini jelly spawners near the team spawn area. Most of the maps are designed with wide or separated spawn entrances to try to keep the enemy team from blockading them inside; this would add another way to keep the enemy pushed back a little. The mini jellies would automatically die and respawn once they left a certain radius of their spawner.

Second idea: control-point aligned respawning turrets or mini jelly spawners. Based on the status of the nearest control point, they'd attack either the opposing team or, if the CP is neutral, both teams. This would help make centrally located control points more defensible.

Third idea: Have a map with a shadow infestation, with some swarm seeds in corners near control points, and maybe some swarm turrets guarding faster, direct routes between areas.

I was going to suggest this

I was going to suggest this some days ago :) My idea was a little different tho. I was thinking about a gun puppy just standing still and then if some knight hit it it would start glowing the other´s team color and attacking your team. I was even going to suggest tortodrones.

But man your idea makes much more sense. I like the second idea more than the others but i think that the whole thing of putting mobs on lockdown would unbalance it. lets say your a striker trying to get a control point but this gun puppies just keep shooting you, that would be a pain in the butt.

Sounds like it's gonna turn into Dota or League of legends haha. What if the mobs drop vitapods too? Oh my.

What Dark Ritual?

ADD-ON: there could be a new class called engineer that puts defenses on a teams CP?

@Altos

I was thinking that. Their 'shield' is able to charge up turrents and spawns It takes 30 secs. He has less health than recon but more than striker. the weps all have low bonuses.

"ADD-ON: there could be a new class called engineer that puts defenses on a teams CP?"

I approve this message. Have a class whose shield slowly builds a gun puppy and doesn't allow movement. I'd say health = Recon. Allow this ability to only be used on Control points your team owns and/or within a certain radius of a control point, and have a limit as to how many turrets per unit area. I must say, no drops though. Maybe a heart just like when you kill a person but no vitapods or any other unbalanced stuff :P

So yeah, +1 to the WHOLE idea :D

First i was in favor of the

First i was in favor of the monsters already there and that when you gained the control point they turned to your side. But for strikers and recons that cant shield that would be a little unfair. Lockdown is in many ways a lot like TF2 and an engineer class wont be a bad idea.

@Nacho Gun puppy bullets and

@Nacho Gun puppy bullets and jelly minis are pretty easy to dodge when they/you are alone. If it were a T3 rocket puppy then yeah, it would be way unfair to strikers and recons.

@Nicoya-Kitty Thnking about

@Nicoya-Kitty
Thnking about it, the whole point of them puppies and mini jellies is to make it more difficult, puppies would just be doin their job. But what you think of what them suggested up there? about the engineer, to me it would be a nice variant of your idea.

The engineer thing sounds

The engineer thing sounds interesting, but I think it's really a separate suggestion.

I want one of those immortal

Mobs don't need to be "aligned", they should just behave like mobs, treating all players the same regardless of their colour ^^ - that'd be enough and that'd be very very very awesome :D
( very. )

I want one of those immortal golden trojans to lure with me as a "pet", hoping that he hits the enemy while I'm dancing around him, dodging his attacks.

NOW, GIMME!

edit: actually I want 2 of those and a a few respawning slack walkers that as a guardian I can hopefully bump into the general direction of incoming strikers while they use their flame breath. And a bunch of respawning greavers, imprisoned by respawning blocks and ready to attack the enemies of him who dares to set them free (or teammates... or himself... if he messes up the kiting "logistics" :3).

edit2: Forget everything I wrote before. Just put tortodrones on all lockdown maps. Massive amounts of tortodrones, everywhere. And some vanadukes.

edit3: Ok, I was a little overexcited when I edited this for the second time, so, no vana-drone-down everywhere. But sill, I'd love a *single* vanaduke-themed map with a single one of those standing somewhere in the center room. Like: Vanadukes garden xD. It's where he goes to drink tea. He won't stand up to chase you, but he'll still try to smack those annoying little knights that keep rushing by with his club (most of the time resulting in him hitting the knight that's *chasing* after the first one to walk by, hehe).

But

But Krogmo is all about monsters enjoying the suffering of Knights in a death game, it is already enough that we have those Rock Jellies entering without permission!

Though... maybe some Devilites or Turrets shooting things from a protected area could work.

2 things

I think nicoya's idea is good, and so is the engineer. But nacho's idea of hitting a gun puppy to oppose the other team sounds unfair, because a striker could easily travel through the map, hitting one by one.

i said that nicoyas idea was

i said that nicoyas idea was better but my idea wasnt to hit a gun puppy to turn it against the opposite team. It was the opposite, if you hit a gun puppy it would turn against you and your team. Read my comment i never said that it will turn in your favor :)

Anyhow, either monsters already there or engineers the idea is good and i think it should be implemented

Forget the engineer already.

Forget the engineer already. That is an awful idea just like any "class addition idea" that has ever been in any online game forum before. Make an own topic for that and call it "great new lockdown class idea", so everyone who wants to let flames rain from the sky on it knows where to look.

Let's get back to the mobs. Want mobs in lockdown now. For some of them, watching just isn't enough, they need to get down there and make it more "interesting". I know if I was a devilite, I'd love to stay close to control point throwing stuff and jump away every time someone takes a break from capturing points to do something about it.

will opposing gun puppies fight?

For the gun puppy , maybe its strength is at maximum when the base is completely controled by one team and its power is weakened as another team starts taking it over. Also for engineers there should be a limit for the number of turrets they cam put up.

Rock Jelly in LD

^ That actually wasn't on purpose, plus the jelly doesn't really pose much of a threat.
Maybe have a room with all entrances blocked by mist barriers with 1 or 2 gold enemies inside? (Gold Trojan! >=3)
In case you didn't know, gold enemies are invincible
