I use my desktop mainly for the game but if I need to quickly check on something I'll log on through Steam on my laptop. I'm trying to do so now after not touching it on the laptop for some time. When I start it up it gave me an error saying "We were unable to download the necessary files after five attempts. You can try running the application again, but if it fails you may need to uninstall and reinstall". I closed it, opened it again, did the same thing. I deleted local content on Steam, reinstalled, started it up, it begins patching. After fives times of it redownloading the patch again and again it gives me the exact same error. I verified the integrity of the cache on Steam and everything validated. I'm running Vista. HALP.

First, try and do an update

First, try and do an update with any installed security software temporarily disabled. Sometimes it can block the download.

If that does not work, there's a few files you can acquire manually to kick-start the update. Right-click the following links and select save target as and place them in your Spiral Knights installation directory.

getdown.txt
digest.txt

Then open the file version.txt and past the number 20111214105944 over top any contents.

Tried disabling my antivirus,

Tried disabling my antivirus, didn't work. I'm guessing the installation directory is the SK folder in steam since I saw those files in there already. I'd just download and replace then? Also where's version.txt?
