I'm about to buy 2 weapon slots and I know I'm going to fill in 3 of them with DA, Polaris, and Blitz, but what should I put in the 4th one. Initially, I thought Shivermist but I realized that I usually run with my friends/guildies who are already seasoned Shivlockers. So then I was thinking Levi in order to maximize damage against his mask phases.

Also, should I get a Crest of Almire for the sole purpose of FSC? I have enough tOkens for a Blackened Crest and upgrading won't be too much trouble of it means I'll be more effective.

I do FSC with DA, Blitz, and Shivermist, even though I use only one of the latter in the Vanaduke fight. It can be useful to have both, to avoid discussions like "Johnny left the party, so we lost our only Shivermist." I've seen vortex bombs used very well in certain parts of FSC. Give one of those a try? But you certainly don't need a fourth weapon.

I got Crest of Almire, just because I didn't have any shadow shield and it's a pretty good one. Now I run FSC in Vog Cub, Vog Cub, and Crest. If you already have a shadow shield, then maybe it's not worth getting.

Maybe a DVS is you just want a Mask buster

Another option if you are not concerned with carrying a back up shiver is the Dread Venom Striker (DVS). This might be a good option if you only plan on carrying a Levi through all of FSC just for the Mask. I think Levi is great for the mask, but I get use out of mine on the way combo'n the charge with my Shiver. I have seen some sick fast Vana speed runs that used DVSs to great effect. To me a DVS is pretty situational and only really worth while for Vana mask or maybe JK busting, so if you already have a Levi that might make more sense (cost-wise).

hmm

i usually use the 4th slot to heat a weapon. if not then ill bring DVS or Voltaic tempest which is good for zombie killing. or Glacius for when you get bored of DA

hmm

also crest is probably the best shield for FSC because of the shadow/fire it'll save your ass big time when you get mobbed by slags

I have only used Grey Owlite

I have only used Grey Owlite Shield in FSC, but I have never had any problem with zombies. They are just about the easiest enemies in the game as far as I am concerned. So, for me I think I would prefer to stick with Elemental. Though if you are gunning through FSC I can see how a SS would be just fine too once you get FSC down.

I'd recommend BTB, but you got a blitz to deal with trojans. I'd say to bring a shiver anyway just to be safe, or don't bother opening the slot up. You don't *need* 4 weapons after all.

If you're using a non-shadow shield right now, switching to it will actually make it easier to survive. If you're finding that your shield is popping too much to your liking, get it. For me, BTS fares fine and I get that nice sword dmg bonus. It also forces me to play better, since I can't lean on my shield too much.

In general (no just FSC) I

In general (not just FSC) I don't think I can go back to sub 4 weapon slots now that I am spoiled. I either run:

Levi (derp insurance to cover for picking the wrong special damage blade or the oddball healer that doesn't fit the rest of the theme)
Special damage sword (Voltedge // Dark Thorn Blade // Silent Nightblade)
Polairs // Valiance (kinda starting to hate the Polaris and want to replace with Nova Driver for non-FSC work)
Shivermist buster (really love to combo the Shiver & Levi when both have good CTR)

or I run a general:

Dark Thorn Blad
Voltedge
Silent Nightblade
Polaris // Valiance

I like the general loadout because I can drop blind into anybody's party and be just fine.

Voltaic Tempest and Electron

Voltaic Tempest and Electron Vortex are both pretty fun. Planting a shiver and a volt under a mob of zombies will keep them almost completely immobile while dealing quite a bit of damage. The EV is great if you're running with people who have a Voltedge or Glacius, as the charge attack coupled with wadding the mobs up with the vortex translates into massive DPS.

A Polaris can be nice for doing the gun puppy room, either by doing it backwards by shocking the zombies or by spamming the rocket puppy to death and running to the other side before it respawns. It's also nice for quickly taking out red rovers, and occasionally killing zombies on the other side of a fire/spike trap.

Leviathan

It maximizes damage on his max phases, is easy to obtain, and has kickass knockback which can save your life if you're getting mobbed by zombies - just don't indiscriminately use it or your friends'll cuss you out.

Also, Crest of Almire is excellent. If you have enough tokens, pick it up.

My must-haves are DA, Blitz, and Shiver (I usually only need one of the last two, but I bring both just in case). I fill the last slot with something I need to heat, and thus don't use, or I'd bring Polaris to make wheel killing easier. I stick with DA/Blitz charges 99% of the time though. You can bring along a BTB for a quick few swipes at trojans and the few wolvers, or like you said, a normal damage sword for the mask phases (the Levi charge is great, and like someone upthread said, DVS is quite good too).

Crest of Almire is a great shield to have, not just for FSC either. Gray Owlite, BTS, CoA is usually the 3-pack standard.
