I was thinking of ideas on how to make lockdown a bit more diversified. Before, when LD was new, barely anyone was the same. There were skolvers, vogs, skellies, bombers (Vinrules had an excellent strategy as a bomber), hybrids, divine veils, etc. (still no winmillions though). Now look at today. Skolver and FF. Barely anything else. The main reason for this is not the armor, trinkets, or that; it's the swords. After many lockdown matches, I have discovered, along with many people, that the flourish hits before the swing, and it hits out of visible range. I have a brandis that I use, and its range is normal.
Here is how the flourish is not properly set;
Range of DA/GF
Damage of DA/GF
Speed of spur line
Radius of DA/GF (180 degrees)
I find this ridiculous.
Solution? Make the HIT range of the flourishes the same as the cutter. This is now they should be. Then, this in addition to natural lag, would make the flourishes hit at a normal range.
If you watch Nicoya's Frostbite LD video, you can clearly see the ridiculous hit range of the flourish.
I know a lot of people who truly enjoy using flourishes will hate this suggestion, but if this were to be implemented, there would be many different weapons and possibly armors put to use. I believe everyone would find lockdown much more enjoyable if it were like how it started out to be.

I had an idea to make skolver

I had an idea to make skolver bonus (and any other armor for that matter) be against monster only - so only the striker class bonus would be in effect.
I wonder how much hate will i get for it.

But will make it as useless as cobalt or jelly, with freeze resist (is that balance?).

Edit: the lack of armor variety isnt the bonus on skolver but the lack of one on the rest. Changing the flourish will add weapon variety but may not get rid of wolvers.

Never a fan of the skolver

Never a fan of the skolver clones, especially since skolver strikers ALREADY get max dmg, asi, and the ability to wear two +6 heart trinkets. No other class has this option. The flourish line just makes that combo even more ridiculous. I have to start dodging a full 2 seconds before i THINK they're going to dash and swing. At best i have to shoot them 5-7 times when they just have to hit me twice (wearing justifier or shadowsun).

Suppose i rage too much about this, but it honestly makes any match not fun at all to play (glares at the entire gang of Finesse, but giving them props at the same time for exploiting this).

Quit being mad and get one yourself! I don't have one yet but I want one, even though I'm good enough with DA+Full Divine. This actually takes skill, try it yourself. Also everyone can have heart trinkets... Also, they can't fix your lag/latency.

Poor diversity is a real

Poor diversity is a real problem for LD, telling people to get the one and only set really worth using is not a solution.

it most distincly is not the damage of teh DA/GF, they (the DA/GF) do far more damage. Honestly in my experience the brandish line swords do more damage per hit than the peirce swords do. The peirce swords are just easier to hit with (due to range and thrust distance), especialy against fleeing foes. I normaly do t2 lockdown, but the few times i did t3 i plowed people under with my skolver/guardian/acheron no problem. of course that was before heart trinkets were easy to get, probly wont be one shoting people witht he acheron as much any more.

The rapier style weapons

The rapier style weapons aren't a big deal I think. They really only become a problem when someone is exceptionally good at shield cancelling (they just happen to be the ideal weapon for that), then they become their own team imbalances.

It's still pretty rare to see good shield cancellers, but I worry it will become a problem as more people get good at it...
