People wait at the lift a lot. One way to increase the fun and increase sales would be to create a mechanism where people can contribute crowns or energy to change the level.

Everyone does that because they want a specific better level with better rewards.
This really depends on the cost - if the pay is higher than the reward people would still wait.
If changing a level is cheap to not overshadow the rewards, i dont think it would 'increase the sales'
on that note, the candle levels are really unpopular because it is more work for fewer crowns -- maybe you can either
1) increase the crowns dropped directly
2) reduce the energy cost
3) make these levels longer with more enemies as a way of increasing the crowns dropped...
