It comes down to which

It comes down to which statuses you want to be protected from.
Divine Veil and Skolver Coat is usually superior

The issue here is you're

The issue here is you're trying to hit all four kinds of defense, which is ok for an all-around set of armor, but never really shines. You'd be much better off equipping different sets of armor tailored to your needs at any given time. In particular, having two bars of normal defense is important, and you're rarely up against a combo of typed damage where one type isn't prevalent.

Now, if you happened to put on two of these pieces with Max UVs as follows: 2x Normal, 1x Pierce, 1x Elemental, 1x Shadow, then yes, you'd never need a different set of armor ever again. But sadly that sort of thing is relegated to fantasy.

but is it really worth it?

i mean in t3 i take very hard hits from shadow and elemental (currently i have an ash tail set) and i like the bonuses with swords but i dont know if its a really good idea to change my armor to something more balalnced.

great

I recommend that starting players, especially F2P players such as yourself, build a general-purpose set, before building specialized sets. The king of general-purpose sets is undoubtedly Divine Veil with Skolver Coat (unless you use no swords at all). Its only drawback is that the Divine Veil isn't subsequently used in specialized sets very well. If you want to compromise some general-purposeness, for the sake of faster access to specialized sets later, then consider Vog Cub Cap with Skolver Coat (or vice versa).

Edit: Yes, Divine Veil with Skolver Coat works. My second knight uses this setup and no other armor, including in FSC, fiend strata, etc. On the other hand, my main knight almost never uses this setup. That's what I mean about general-purpose vs. specialized.

Not to hijack the thread, but

Not to hijack the thread, but what does the snarbolax cap or coat work well with that would cover the maximum number of status types

Yes, if you can only have one

Yes, if you can only have one set, then an all-around set can be a good idea. If you're a dedicated F2P player, you're probably going to want to run a lot of FSC in order to make money, so full Vog is your primary alternative. It just depends on how you intend to play and what your goals are. If you're confident in your skills you'll want to go for offense. If not, you may want to fall back on defense. But defense in FSC is different from all-purpose defense.

Of the three you listed, Divine/Skolver is the best pick, as Bopp said (aside: Bopp is always right about everything). Heavenly Iron is a shadow lair piece, and by the time you can manage to get one of those, the "I can only afford one set of armor" thing is sort of a moot point. Radiant Silvermail and Vog is generally inferior because you get less Elemental, which is probably the most common attack type among attacks that hit, you get ASI instead of Damage, and Damage tends to be preferable, and you only get Poison, Fire, and Curse resistance, which isn't all that great compared to Shock, Freeze, Fire, and Curse.

Batabii, Divine Veil with Snarbolax Coat covers even more statuses than Divine Veil with Skolver Coat. Or did you want all four damage types covered, too? You want a helmet or suit with piercing and elemental damage. I think that your only choice is Dragon Scale Mail/Helm.

Edit: Thanks, Kalaina-Elderfall.

my experience

I got full skolver as my first 5* set just yesterday (for the dmg :P), since i can run most of t3 without dying more than 4 times with my friends or guildies (if i'm careful).
So it rather comes down to the question
1. how often do you die? (and with who, to chose run mates)
2. if so, what kills you the most?
3. if not, what bonus do you love most?

ps: since the patch came in, you don;t really need to worry about defense in fsc.....

true, but damage bonus is especially good

What Stormfast says is true, but I'd just like to add one idea. There are eight kinds of UVs that you can get on a sword (or handgun):
* attack speed increase
* charge time reduction
* damage slimes
* damage gremlins
* damage beasts
* damage fiends
* damage undead
* damage constructs
Vog Cub armor gives you a speed bonus, equivalent to a Medium speed UV. That's nice. But Skolver/Snarbolax gives you a damage bonus, equivalent to *six* Medium damage UVs.

@bopp I wasn't specifically

@bopp I wasn't specifically saying those two, I mean is there any combination with one of the snarbolax pieces that would give as many resistances, or should I not bother?

still don't get it

Batabii, I still don't get what you're asking. Your post #6 was about Snarbolax pieces. Your post #11 is about Skolver pieces. Which one do you want to use? Is your goal to maximize the number of status resistances, regardless of damage resistances? Or do you want to maximize the number of damage resistances too?

Typo. I meant Snarbolax.

Typo. I meant Snarbolax. *fixes*

And I want to maximize ALL resistances. Or at least as many as possible: shadow, elemental, normal, piercing, fire, freeze, shock, poison, stun, curse.

thanks to everyonr for their

thanks to everyonr for their comments.

I think i dont die that much, but some hits from shadow and elemental REALLY hurt me; but if im really careful and have a good timing i could probably dodge and duck and dip and dive and dodge. So this is why i'm asking if its really really that good to have a decent defense armor overall or just get the freaking damage output XD

I do play regularly but i think that i could get then the skolverto 5* my plate shield to volcanic or something and live with that till i get more speciallized things for each lvls.

normal+normal+elemental+shadow
or
normal+normal+pierce+elemental
or
etc depending on lvl...

so this is the question: overall armor or damage output?

ps: i love how the radiant silvermail and hte heavaly iron look :D but i didnt know they neede a shadowlair sanctuar

Batabii, this is the best I can do (I've already mentioned the first one):
* Snarbolax and Dragon Scale: normal, piercing, elemental, shadow, and freeze, poison, fire.
* Snarbolax and Divine Veil: normal, elemental, shadow, shadow, and freeze, poison, fire, shock, curse.
To do any more, I'd have to exhaustively search the wiki, which you can do as well as I can.

Ricalu, Radiant Silvermail can be crafted anywhere. People mention it in connection with Shadow Lairs because it is good armor for the first Shadow Lair. My general advice is (A) always have some normal protection, and (B) get as much offense on your armor as you can stand; retreat to more defensive armor if you feel that you need it.
