Is the Silversix underpowered?

For one thing, I notice that for some reason the Blackhawk has a longer average range than the Silversix. For another thing, it does worse damage than the Blackhawk, even against enemies it's supposed to be good at.

A Silversix does less damage to a Construct than a Blackhawk would to a Jelly, for example.

And aside from the undead, there's very few enemies in the game that are weak to Elemental and/or Piercing and not resistant to one or both. Not even the speed of the weapon can make up for that.

Blackhawk does more damage (to the enemies it is good against) and has more range, and it's supposed to be the equal opposite of the Silversix.

I also feel that, even at their current weapon speeds, the weapons are somewhat underpowered. Both of them. A Silversix takes down a Construct slower than a 3* Alchemer.

The reason the blackhawk does

The reason the blackhawk does more damage to jellies than the silversix does to constructs is that not all monster "weaknesses" are equal. Jellies take an inordinate amount of shadow damage. Try comparing the silver six's construct damage to the blackhawk's Gremlin damage and you should see the numbers are pretty much in line.

As for the range complaint, I think it's somewhat unfounded. The entire Antigua line has godly range compared to any of the other guns including the Magnus/Callahan, which confuses the heck out of me considering the Antigua guns are the "well rounded" ones and aren't really meant for people who use guns as their primary...

Who in their right mind

Who in their right mind shoots at jellies? I'll take my Argent Peacemaker to the firestorm citadel where range is actually important. And it's one of the best guns to use up there.

If you're one of those guys who stands there shooting jellies, I just want to say that you ruin my jelly runs. And you should feel bad. >:C

I'm currently using

I'm currently using silversix, and the main problem i have is that if something has piercing resist i will do WAY less damage than i will in the bonus from elemental.
In fact, other than kats i do no bonus damage to anything.
I do normal amounts against Zombies at least.

Yeah, I got the Silversix to use on Jelly runs, 'cuz... yeah, I wanted to get a gun I could use later, and I figured the elemental damage would help maybe just a bit, but... ugh, looks like it's more of a Tier 3 gun.

You do realize there are only 6 monster types in this game, right? http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Damage#Monster_Resistances

According to math, thats 2 weak targets and 4 mixed.... exactly the same numbers as the Blackhawk.

Silversix prime targets: Undead & Fiend
Blackhawk prime targets: Beast & Gremlins

Silversix / Argent Peacemaker

Silversix / Argent Peacemaker is for Undead + Fiends. Blackhawk / Sentenza is for Gremlin + Beasts.

Argent Peacemaker is the most useful gun in the game for FSC. Meanwhile, beasts and gremlins tend to dodge gunfire shots.

If anything, it's Sentenza that's underpowered.

beasts dodge?

The only things that ever dodge me are the little office drones and the gremlins, unless it gets more complex with beasts in the higher tiers. I'd say that the Peacemaker is still the same as the Sentenza, it's just a matter of it being useless until Tier 3.

When I say beasts, I mean

When I say beasts, I mean wolvers. Especially Alphas. They dodge gun attacks, absolutely, even in T2. In T3, guns are basically useless against them because they teleport.

Chromalisks are so easy that nobody cares about them.

So nick, how about upgrading

So nick, how about upgrading the argent peace maker to fully elemental damage and the sentenza to fully shadow damage?

That would make those two guns worth the effort of getting them and upgrading (remember they are boss token items) so they become actually useful outside FSC

I actually love the shooting style of those 2 but they are so damn weak that I have deleted them from my must have list, I'm instead building a polaris..

Silversix all the way!

Silversix is great when it comes to undead. It's also pretty handy against fiends! It's speed is fantastic to catch those speedy devils. However, blackhawk on the other hand, is good against grimlins only. This is because beast will always dodge. There are not many grimlin missions that I will constantly play so I use the Silversix. Silversix and Blackhawk are NOT good against jellies or construct. Imagine a Blackhawk in this situation, your team is dead. You then pull out your Blackhawk and start blasting your gun. However, jellies usually come in numerous amounts, espacially lichens. Blackhawk cannot knockback really well unless you have a charge. But once you charge, you are vurnerable to all the attacks that come your way. This also applies to all the Antigua series charges. Silversix on the other hand, is a little bit better when dealing with constructs. Still, the Silversix lacks the ability to do massive damage in one stroke, which is critical with dealing with constructs. It is just my opinion, but I think that Silversix is a bit better. Though this statement is true, I am not dissaproving Blackhawk in any way, and I think it's a fabulous weapon too. But it is just my belief that Silversix is better.

Um.

Date stamps. Read them.

P.S. In your scenario, your team is dead. . . from fighting jellies? You guys have a bigger problem than choice of gun. Also, learn to kite.

Kill it! Kill it with shadows!

Cursed necromancers, have you no respect for the dead? Silversix is barely even the same gun as it was in 2011, make a new thread if you want to talk about it nowadays!
