Bombing on Fire; Cancels?

Might just be my imagination or lag, but in FSC today, every time I caught on fire, I found it actually impossible to drop a bomb; every time the animation went to drop, it just cancelled outright as I took damage. It hit regularly enough that as soon as I was on fire, I could simply not drop a bomb with it keeping cancelling my charge, the same way shock does.

I could swear this has never happened before, as I've been in FSC before, and with a mix of awful fire res and just general awfulness, I catch fire often enough, and I've always been able to run aroud and keep droppin' bombs while I burn and die.

But today, fire is actin' up nearly as badly as shock. Opinions?

Lag.

I've never heard of fire canceling, and just today i accidentally lit myself with a fire pot and was still bombing as normal.

I'd suspect lag.

Idk, I'm not lagging in any

Idk, I'm not lagging in any other way and I'm perpetually having this issue.

Altough I've noticed that it is actually charging up; I get the charge-complete glow like always, but when I let go of it, the animation stops itself, in the same kind of way that happens when you pre-drop before the charge is complete. Tried it a few times and watched as it glowed, stayed glowing for a few seconds, then let go and it stopped every single time. I'm persistently unable to drop bombs while on fire.

Seems odd and awfully specific for that to be lag that only happens in one circumstance and happens every time.

It depends how much CTR you

It depends how much CTR you have. If you have a lot, you can charge and drop a bomb before the fire tick interrupts you (except maybe the ISB). Network lag between you and the server will also impact this; I haven't nailed down exactly how, but I think the server will cancel the charge and/or bomb placement if it deals a fire tick to you.

Go add more +1s to my "change charge mechanics" thread in the suggestions forum so we don't have to deal with frustrations like this.

Max CTR always. I can charge

Max CTR always. I can charge and drop between T3 shock spasms, but suddenly fire is utterly blocking me out. I mean I'm watching the bomb drop, and even the rad appearing on the floor for a half second, and it all just cancels and vanishes. I tried even just holding a charge for aobut 3/4 seconds and the fire ticks didn't break the completed charge, but no matter when I let go (even half a second after the fire tick) it always cancelled. I did try and start the charge just after the fire tick, but it got cancelled just the same, even before the next fire tick even did any damage to me.

I've no idea what it is, but FSC is rapidly becoming a seriously effort for me. I'm used to fire hurting me and chewing my hps to pieces, but I've always been able to still drop bombs.

Now, I catch fire and for 6~11 seconds I'm useless, which is beyond unacceptable.

Happens to me with swords.

Happens to me with swords. Seems to be working as intended, with taking damage as an interruption to any kind of charge.

Well if that's the case

Well if that's the case then:
a/ it hasn't been working as intended up until today for me, and still isn't for some people such as Imperial
b/ it shouldn't be cancelling when I'm charging/dropping between ticks
c/ it should actually be cancelling the charge outright, not letting it remain charged and just refusing to place

Something just feels so...broken about it today :/

Am hoping tomorrow it'll be consistent at least.

I have an idea.

How about we settle it by using the ATH?

Tell someone to light you up with the fire pot after fully charging a bomb and see what happens.

This tend to happen with mist

This tend to happen with mist & vortexes, blast bombs and rss have a fast enough charge time that you can consistently charge and drop them inbetween fire ticks.

I was trying it with both

I was trying it with both Shiver and RSS; both of them could get from charging to fully charged between fire ticks. Could go check in the ATH I guess o.o

What I've found is that it

What I've found is that it doesn't reset the charge completely. There is a slight delay between when you release your charge and the bomb is actually planted. If a fire tick occurs during this period then the charge will cancel. This has been the case for as long as I can remember.

...

Yeah, bombing on fire = :(

I've tried using bombs on fire before, and the interruption just cancels the charge. It's downright impossible to bomb on fire, a real pain seeing as some people are pure bombers.

Hard? Yes - Impossible? Nope

"It's downright impossible to bomb on fire, a real pain seeing as some people are pure bombers."
ummmm did you read the entire thread?

Anyways it's always been like that. My divine avenger barely charges if released properly (95% of the time ends up in failure). If that sword can do it, everything can. Those that say it no always interrupt is because they just didnt pay enough attention or were able to time it nicely.
