Low FPS or Lag?

I have just come back to Spiral Knights after about 6 months. Never have I had any problems in the past running the game. I entered the clockworks last night and had serious problems with either lag or fps drops. When I hit an enemy it would take a couple of seconds to register which obviously makes arena's etc a little tough.

Is there anything I can do to fix this?

You should firstly check your

You should firstly check your graphic settings, you are able to choose quality from low, medium and high, of course setting it to low will reduce lags. Also there is recently added option to incrase antialiasing. Setting it to lower value should reduce lags.

You should also look for your java software update.

I updated my Java and then uninstalled the game through Steam. After re-installing everything seems fine. I can play on full settings again with no visial lag at all.

Super :)

Ok.....so game goes down and comes back full of lag again, wonderful.

So I have to uninstall and re-install the game after every patch/maintenance?

There is also a new feature

There is also a new feature in game. We currently have US servers and EU servers.

Depending which are closer to you you should choose one of them to reduce amount of lags.

By default you have set to detect server based on your IP but you can change it manually. Choosing most suitable server will reduce lags.

Which server you should choose? The closest to you, if you are not sure you should go to this site:

www.pingtest.net and test at which location you will have less lags.

EU server is located in Ireland, you should ping that location.
US server is located in USA Virginia, you should ping that location (Ashburn VA).

Then choose server where you will have lower ping and lower jitter.

I was randomly playing and

I was randomly playing and all of a sudden the lag stopped. I already had my the server set to EU (west) so I don't think that was the problem....I guess playing on a less populated channel may have helped.

I'm sure the lag will be back though :(

I've also been experiencing lag for the past couple of weeks now. But when I started playing SK in decemeber I was not having this kind of lag before, even though I am residing in south east asia. Hopes this gets resolved

I have been getting some lag

I have been getting some lag like this as well. It jumps from 1 to 3 back to 1 bar, even if there is nothing going on with the internet on my side. This was non-existent even with other people streaming video before the current Sonic promotion patch.
