Community Q&A with Nick

Problem: A lot of us here on the forums are getting increasingly frustrated that none of the things we say seem to be reaching the devs' ears

So I suggest a Q&A event. If the community could borrow Nick for a few hours every month, it'd be nice to have a thread, made by Nick, that basically says "ask questions and I shall answer," wherein we ask him questions and he answers. Everything from "Snipe wings - how do they work?" to "When are we going to fight King Tinkinzar" is fair game, and he doesn't have to answer the questions he feels are spoilers or would ruin the surprise. I figure if anyone knows what he can and can't say, it's Nick.

Basically, there are certain things we want to know, and if we had a chance to ask these questions at a time when we know we're going to be heard I think there'd be a lot fewer complaints on this forum about how the devs don't care about us. Sure there are going to be some stupid questions, too, but this forum community is honestly pretty excellent, so that would be minimal. A line or two to answer any given question is not exactly difficult, either.

We'd really just like to hear the voice of a dev in response to us; it doesn't really matter what he's talking about.

If you think this is a good idea and you're around at the one time when I know for sure that someone is reading the forums: right after they post a patch thread about a new CE special offer and Nick's reading feedback to make sure nobody has technical difficulties spending money, mind linking to or re-suggesting this then?

And, as usual, if you're somebody who actually has the power to make this happen and/or talk to someone who has the power to make this happen, it'd be great if you could post here. You don't have to say anything. A one-word post that says "GORILLA" or something is cool; we're really not picky.

k, I like this and give all my support, but this kind of initiative would only happen if the devs really wanted to. I mean, a simple suggestion on the forums won't change anything. but still, I give this a +1

GORILLA.
No, just kidding. I think this is a excellent idea, and it might get people to buy more ce, via how enthusiastic they are with his answers.
Sadly, I doubt that they will answer this.

Yesh. :3

This would be really nice...

I understand that giving away too many surprises isn't great, but keeping us completely in the dark may cause people to be more cautious with their money A.K.A CE. I mean...what if people are waiting for AP/Sent to change before buying the CE to craft it? Just as an example.

So definitely +1 to this...even though the chances of it happening are slim to none.

This is a really bad idea.

This is a really bad idea.

What will happen is that the devs will be swamped by literally hundreds of questions, too many for them to answer.

If they go for the straight ones, then it will be boring, if they have a few light hearted ones then players will complain about sidestepping serious issues.

Basically catch 22.

I will say though, I am holding back on upgrading my Antigua to see if a pure piercing version emerges.

Yep.

I approve this message! i would love to have a Q&A thread just for the sake of asking particular questions... E.G. Why is there so much normal type hate? (Apparently) The bonus to some is about equal to having an indiscriminate weapon.

And then actually getting a straight answer, and not just some speculation about this and that... i personally love having a developer group who wants to get ideas from they're public, it makes us feel much more connected to the game...

...and if there's more connection to the game, more people will pay to get things that they like... (I cant believe that I had to bring up the $ side... but i really want to have this!)

Yours Hopefully,
~Tsu

I come from minecraft, where

I come from minecraft, where the developer pretty much added nothing but player-contributed content to the game. It was good (provided you ignored all the whingy people's complaining)

I'm hopeful. I +1 this. Wouldn't mind seeing Nick's face once in a while.

Provided that they set some

Provided that they set some ground rules like "people can only post one question at a time" and "don't post suggestions" or something, I really don't think there would be THAT many questions. And even if there were, one person answering, say, 300 questions in a timespan of two hours is not exactly a huge challenge if you ignore the bad ones. And let people complain about it; people complaining about things is really not a problem.

So, in short, Nick can handle it, and I seriously doubt it would be that bad anyway.
