I've been having fun with the autogun line weapons lately, but it seems a bit restrictive to only have piercing, or a range-nerfed normal damage options.

I think a shadow damage version with a smoky, purple, ghost-like shot would be cool.

For the elemental version, I think something that looks a bit like a tesla coil and shoots out a series of lighting bolt looking things with a chance of shock would be pretty awesome. It would fit well with the autogun model too, just retexture the barrel to look like it's wrapped in fine copper wire, and put a chrome ball at the end where the barrel would normally be.

@Nicoya: Idk, I kinda lke

@Nicoya:
Idk, I kinda lke most weapons not having all options; forces you to explore a bit and mix stuff up, rather than, say, just gettin' 3 Brandishes and havin' all your spec damage there.
But, after spendin' time w/ bombs and gettin' used to needing to use DBB, Vortexes, Hazes, Shards etc; you're forced into a nice mixture of options to get all your special options, I suppose it just made me like that feel more than just all specs on one weapon line.

@Uuni:
Just no. Pepperbox is perfect with normal.

How about NO?

The Autogun series is already perfect. There's a reason why they haven't added Autoguns with other damage types: They would be overpowered, and they would outclass many other weapons. Three Rings did an excellent job with the Autogun series. They made a few great heavy guns built for damage. But you can't make one weapon series with lines that have every damage type. You don't seem to know much about the Autogun series. The Volcanic Pepperbox, Blitz Needle and Plague Needle all have the same range. It's just LOOKS like the needle guns have more range, I've tested it before and they all have the same range.

The Pepperbox is a reliable gun, it's normal damage lets it be a nice all-around weapon, but the fire status compensates for it's lower damage than the Blitz Needle. The Pepperbox gets larger bullets as it's upgraded, have you seen how big the Volcanic Pepperbox bullets are? It's charge attack also has nice utility, the charge's suction can pull enemies into the stream of bullets, allowing you to slay enemies with accurate attacks. Sure, you might pull an enemy in your face, but all of your bullets will stagger anything that gets too close, allowing you to get back.

The Blitz Needle is a stronger gun in terms of raw damage, but it doesn't have as much utility. Since the Blitz Needle is a Piercing Weapon, it's strong, weak and neutral against certain enemies. In a nutshell, when you choose the Blitz Needle over the Volcanic Pepperbox, you're sacrificing utility for damage. The Volcanic Pepperbox is better against Construct and Slime, the Blitz Needle is better against Beasts and Fiends, and both guns are sort of matched when it comes to Gremlin and Undead, because they both do neutral damage to them.

As for the Plague Needle? A random, yet successful experiment made by Three Rings. More utility, less damage. Poison is a great, teamwork-friendly element. The Autogun series is perfect the way it is and does not need any changes.

@Renpartycat You're mistaken

@Renpartycat You're mistaken about the pepperbox range. I tested it in the ATH side by side, the pepperbox has a significantly shorter range than either the toxic needle or the needle shot. It might be peculiar to the 3* versions, but that's all I've got to work with.

That's called V.Pepperbox. Huge damage and nearly guaranteed fire, VPB can kill JK nearly as fast as FoV, which I believe is the single fastest weapon to kill JK with. With RT it's slightly less impressive, what with the fire being nullified and the charge needing to be pretimed, or spamming regulars, but even then the base damage is pretty damn high.

@Ren/Nicoya:
I couldn't comment on the range, as I don't have a needle gun to test it with, but if there is a range difference it's really quite small, since my gf has a needle (but not a pepperbox) and we can generally shoot from the same distances, however I've never actively tested to see the exacts.

Otherwise, pretty much what Ren said. The Needle is there for raw, massive damage on pierce-weak enemies and Vana, the pepperbox is there for everything else entirely, and does its job very well, especially with the fire and drag effects. Having elemental/shadow types would make the autogun series far too powerful overall and make the pepperbox redundant. I mean, just look at what happened to AP~Vana when people realised that Blitz was better. Movement guns will become a sidearms and autoguns will become "the" damage guns, as even the pepperbox has insanely high dps output, for a normal type.

The Plague I've never tried, but from concept alone I don't think is terrible tbh; I think it was designed specifically as a pvp gun; not to hit insanely hard, but to all but guarantee the vic gets poisoned while they get hit, ensuring that they're both less of a threat and will be more easily taken down. It's less useful on mobs because it's generally less important for them to be poisoned, but it is a pvp gun after all, so I think it's unfair to compare that against weapons that were designed for pve.
