By my reckoning, which could be wrong, my girlfriends laptop is more than capable of running Spiral Knights. However, I cannot get it to do so =(

Computer:

64 bit, 4 gb ram, Intel Core i5-2410M 2,3 ghz

Graphics:

Radeon HD 6490M, with 512 ram

It also has something I don't know what is, Mobile Intel HD Graphics - which seems to be the active graphics driver.

The computer as such is way stronger than my old desktop, which runs SK without problems of any kind.

Please help? =)

Ok - this then, is my own

Ok - this then, is my own account. The OP is made from my girlfriends own account, which ... is kinda silly, but I was on her computer. Anyways:

The problem is that the game refuses to start, and gives a standard pop-up message about checking drivers and the support page. I've updated drivers, reinstalled flash any number of times, and so on.

I'll try e-mailing support too. Thanks =)

Well - I reinstalled java

Well - I reinstalled java too. Further more, it *asked* me to reinstall flash.

Heh, this is a coincidence.

Heh, this is a coincidence. I'm on a "dv" running Linux Mint. It's a dv5, though. Anyway...

If you have an ATI video card, why does the laptop have the driver for an Intel chip? Try installing the latest AMD/ATI driver. (AMD bought ATI, so AMD now hosts all ATI drivers.)

If that doesn't fix it, see if you have multiple versions of Java installed. Having both a new and old version of Java can cause memory leaks.

Another thing I've heard of, but never experienced myself, is a laptop with two graphics cards running Windows using the weaker graphics card for OpenGL-rendered games. Ijustgotrippedoff probably doesn't have the problem because he's running a Linux distro. I'm not sure of the solution for this one.

One last unlikely, but possible, explanation is fragmentation. The files Spiral Knights uses can become very fragmented after Spiral Knights updates itself. You may want to either run a defragmenter (defragmentor?) or uninstall and reinstall Spiral Knights. However, I've never heard of a fragmentation problem this extreme.

test your java (not javascript)

im willing to bet java is not installed, or not in your path.

start > run > cmd (then press enter)
simply type java and press enter at the dos prompt(this will work in linux too, if you open a terminal)

you will get a generic "not found" or some other message that your command could not be run....

alternately, if java is installed, and in your path, you will just get a message from java saying that you needed to pass it some more arguments, and possibly a huge list of possible arguments. (in which case youve got something else borked)

if you know java is installed, but are getting the generic "not found"/etc message, then java is just not in "path"
a quick google search for "java path + your operating system" will yield results on how to fix.

good luck.
