I think it would be nice if the client displayed the disconnected icon over your own character's head if your computer receives no data from the server for longer than half of a second or so. It would let people who play in fullscreen mode know they've been disconnected and their graphics card is working fine as opposed to the opposite.

There's a set of bars in the top right corner for this. They work on rough ping increments (there's a dev post about it somewhere).
> 4 blue bars = great
> 3 blue bars = pretty good
> 2 yellow bars = so-so
> 1 red bar = bad
Usually if you suffer a disconnect there will be a moment where the bar gets stuck on red before you see the title screen or re-sync.

Half a second? How about 2-3 seconds coz that's about when we start to think "Oh my God why aren't I moving when that rocket puppy is firing at me?"
The icon above my head would constantly be flickering if it was half a second, because I live in australia.
I agree.. this would be really useful..
