Pretty much what the topic says.

We all know the bars lie, so I would think seeing the numbers would be far more useful for us.

Not really.

On weapons:
It will only confuse people.
Damage will always vary depending on type/enemy/stratum/etc.
You could also simply check the wiki.

It MAY work for defense values on armor but dont try to put it everywhere else.

Uncheck "Show Attack Damage"

Uncheck "Show Attack Damage" and be happy.

He's talking about the bars

He's talking about the bars on the actual weapon, not during combat.

I would prefer for the bars

I would prefer for the bars to be fixed, but if the devs will not fix them, then numbers will do any day (maybe DPS?).

But then there are other

But then there are other factors to consider. If it was DPS, a lot of new people could go straight for cutters because they do a lot of damage per second, but stuff like brandishes have status affects which aren't added into DPS, and slow swords have a huge knockback with a low DPS.

Fix the bars

Simply fix the bars or develop a rating system for particular damages. I've played a few games where the damage was put into numbers on the weapons in a rating system that was general. The instructions of the game explained that said ratings would be subject to manipulation by the enemies one faced by either halving, leaving alone, or doubling the damage of one damage type. The resistance(s) for the enemies was given in numerical output on the same rating system, and if one could simply apply the offensive power against the defensive abilities of their particular enemy, they got the basic amount of damage that they would do on said enemies.

+1 to fixing damage counting, I honestly don't care how it's done. Just make sure it's explainable within about 3 paragraphs and easy to understand/reproduce results.
