Elemental shields questions

Currently, the one thing I lack in my arsenal is an elemental shield. So, I did some research with the wiki, and was quite surprised that there are not many elemental shields to choose from.

My question is, is the Grey Owlite Shield really the best choice out there? Do the other shields have any merits that the Owlite doesn't have, and does these merits make the other shields favourable against the Owlite line? I'm kinda at a bias to not have the Owlite series due to some personal reasons, but if it is really the one to have out there, I'm prepared to change my stance on this.

If there's already a thread to answer these questions, do help direct me to it. Any help is very much appreciated~ ^w^

Yes

It's either the Owlite or the Heater. One resists fire and shock the other resists freeze. Pretty obvious choice there.

"Pretty obvious choice there."

Yup. Heater Shield's the way to go.

The Heater Shield has hipster

The Heater Shield has hipster cred and fills the "what do I do with this utterly useless mighty defender" niche nicely. The Dragon Scale shield is a waste of CE to craft, and has no practical purpose other than looking cool. (and personally I think it looks a bit dorky)

The only shield you really have a broad choice with is a piercing shield, and even then the default answer is "get a BTS if you ever intend to come anywhere near a sword".

While I'm on a roll, for shadow shields you actually do have a fair choice between Dread Skelly and CoA, since the latter can be difficult for non-endgame players to get, and the former is well matched for shadow-snarby.

Actually...

That's EXACTLY what I'm going to do with my Old Defender. ._. I need an Elemental Shield & I don't want to Sell it, nor Clog up any Unnecessary Space. I also don't like the Shininess of the Owlite Shield.

EDIT: By the way, how Strong is the Shield Bump of the Heater Shield? Is it Stronger than Owlite, same as the Plates, or sorta in the Middle?

Ah, ok.

Guess I'll be getting the Owlite line after all. Though I somehow managed to get myself gears that are deemed hipster here (Dragon Scale Helm, Chaos Cloak, Wild Hunting Blade), so I might have an inclination to get the Heater Shield after the Owlite to complete the hipster look @_@'

I usually stick with BTS, since I'm a full swordie (unfortunately). Funny thing is, my first 5* shield is the Dread Skelly Shield, just because in my rush to get a 2* shield early on in the game, I bought the first shield recipe I see with Basil, which happens to be a Skelly shield, without thinking much of the implications later.

@Ironskullkid: I know right? The one reason I didn't want the Owlite shield in the first place is because it's too shiny! And if there's one subtle thing I learn, is that newbies and beggars usually aim for the bright and distinctively coloured knights for their begging and "I want a sword plox". I now wear the Chaos Cloak, Wyvern Scale Helm and the Dread Skelly shield in Haven and my knight's colour is blue. Even with a Dusky Wolver Tail (which is a huge signal that you might have spare crowns to give), these people never asked me anymore, which I find both weird and useful ;p
