I don't know about other students like me, but I use a tablet as my alternate device when I'm away from my main computer. I also have school computers in a lab (always available because I am a compsc major). The problem is that SK won't authenticate properly with these computers for some reason. Probably due to these are basically Virtual Machines, and they don't really handle downloads well. I can download the game, but I can't actually log in correctly, even on a non-steam account. This is a problem for me, seeing as I have many breaks in class, and have a tablet or a school computer.
My suggestion is either creating a workable platform with touchscreen tablets (mine just so happens to have a keyboard hardwired) or develop a client that can handle log in (steam isn't even recognized by browsers).
To compare but not compare (seeing as how the games are written and the design of the game is different) Runescape has a desktop client and an online client. I haven't seen the source code of the SK client, and I know java is a PAIN to host on the internet, but it's probably more of a location download issue.
