anybody wanna hlp just post
my stupid computer no longer plays sk it starts to bring up the game but then quits. Any suggestions?

I've been having a similar problem. Whenever I try to open up Spiral Knights through steam, it gives me this black window and immediately closes. But if I were to open up SK through this site, I can access it just fine (but I don't actually have an account here so that makes it troublesome). I usually have 1440x900 px resolution for my computer and seeing as it's a laptop, the screen hasn't changed. I use a Windows VISTA and the strange thing is, even though I got it on my steam library before, it didn't register as me having /owned/ it on this laptop anymore. I had to redownload it. And then afterwards, I restarted my computer to no avail. I think java is updated but I'll try again after this post.
I used to be able to play spiral knights on this computer fine but I don't know what's going on. Could you help me please?

umm... we really need more info...
ok tell us how you are launching the game
steam? web? right off the desktop?
next what resolution you normally run in
has the size/shape of you display (monitor) changed/been replaced
what OS you are using?
did you already try uninstalling/reinstalling?
did you let you computer restart before reinstalling? if not you should
If you are in steam are you using any extra parameters? did you update java(the one inside of the steam game folder) in the past? if so are you using the x64-bit version, disabling the steam overlay may fix it (unchecking the "enable steam community" on the properties menu).
Are you using admin rights on your computer/YOUR PROFILE?
here's a big one I had a problem with ARE YOU USING A SKINNING APP? I have windowblinds and i have to add a personal exception for it to never skin java.exe that the game uses (skinning is like making the desktop/taskbar/start menu/ window borders look different than microsoft programed and themes are not the same) if you don't get what i mean look at wincustomize.com
any other info like who else uses the computer and what do you think may have happened between now and when it was working?
