Allow Toxigels, Oilers, and Quicksilvers to combine

It would add some extra variety and challenge to the slime family. Toxilargos already appear in game but they can't form naturally.

YES It wouldn't be too hard

YES

It wouldn't be too hard to reskin the toxilargo/lichen colonies and make other elemental variants like it, and it would be a fantastic change.

Woah...

Just thought...
What if they could combine CROSS SPECIES.

like...
(L=Lichen,T=Toxigel,O=Oiler,Q=Quicksilver,C=Colony)

T+T=TC of course, same with others,
T+L=TC because special + normal = spec x2
O+Q=OQC making a cross colony oiler, q.s. that induces fire and/or shock.
you could form pure colonies, or cross colonies.

You know, food for thought.

Please, there are no more than 3 of them at a time.

I would be delighted to fight

I would be delighted to fight a quitoxoililargo Colony (Q+T+O+L).... In fact, I'd go out of my way to combine all of them... although I might need to find a place featuring all of them first. Sounds like a nice thing to make puzzles with, actually. I can see a maze of walls in my mind, with various lichens inside of it. Hitting certain switches would open/close pathways in the maze, leading to various types of lichens coming out in the end.

Giant electrified lichen

Giant electrified lichen colony bouncing around like a pinball.

I'll have to think on that one a while

Don't you mean...

Giant flaming lichen colony spewing out blobs of flaming oil and poison gas while it bounces around like a pinball? Oh, and it can spin and release toxic spikes, and rush up to the player... QUITOXILARGO COLONY

But no, it'd have some kind of different attack.... I guess

!

We're talking DEATH on a pseudopod here. Something that could shock you AND light you on fire at the same time- how horrifying...

...and yet, at the same time, oddly compelling.
Perhaps this gelatinous Pandora's Box is worth looking into...

Cooooool! They should also bring back the Slooms as well!

What's the limit to how many lichens can combine anyways? The number of possible colonies could get pretty big!

I'd also love to have a level where all 5 slimes (Lichen, Toxigel, Oiler, Quicksilver and Slooms) were around.

This is brilliant. Cross-breeding I'm not sure about, but to allow these to merge would be great. I'd love to see a giant quicksilver colony bouncing around electrocuting everything. Plus, I'd welcome the challenge >:D

Interesting ...

I'm definitely in favor of Oilers, Quicksilvers, and Toxigels combining, even if there's only one higher-level form (Oiler Barons, something-we-can-think-of-later, and Toxilargos) instead of two for regular Lichens. As for the cross-breeding, I tend to think that would be difficult to implement as well as difficult to actually achieve given I don't believe there's any Clockworks region where two types of lichens exist simultaneously, but it's definitely something to think about. Status effects from such an organism would likely be random, sort of a blob-shaped Sealed Sword, instead of all at once.

Of course, this being Spiral Knights, it wouldn't make sense unless there was also a Freeze variant, and Ice Cubes aren't really lichens. That's a topic for elsewhere, however.

Yesh.

The first time I saw all the little Toxigels, I expected them to form a Toxilargo. After shooting them a bit, I finally realized that they couldn't merge..

A little while later I figured out that only the yellows could combine...and wondered why.

I came to the conclusion that they might not be lichen, just have the same re-colored sprites for some unknown reason. If they are Lichen, then they definitely should be able to merge.

In other words, +1.

Yeah, I always found it strange that non-plain lichen couldn't merge together. Toxilargos are fun to fight whenever there's a Briar Bone Barrage, and it'd be nice to see them elsewhere. On the other hand, having them not able to fuse makes BBB levels kind of a treat for me. XD

Nonetheless, a +1 to this.

If this idea were to be

If this idea were to be implemented, I would say it would make ICMF shadow lair at least 20x harder, due to respawning oilers and quicksilvers... lol

I'm sure that the lichens

I'm sure that the lichens spawned in the SLs would have some kind of coding done to prevent anything too bad from happening.

:|

There's so much derp in this thread.

Quicksilvers, Toxilargos and Oilers never appear alongside eachother, simply because a level theme cannot be a combination of Shock, Poison and Fire.
Therefore mixed breeding would be pointless.
I don't think regular Lichens appear alongside their themed ones either because they only appear in neutral themed levels.

+1 to merging, no to

+1 to merging, no to crossbreeding,
And i'd also like to see Slooms become more common. I never got why the Shrine of Sleep was removed, to be honest.

regular lichens do appear

regular lichens do appear with themed quicksilvers, toxilargos, oilers

That would make sense that regular lichen after merging with themed one would become stronger themed lichen.

They'd have to make some kind

They'd have to make some kind of new levels for mixed slimes to occur on. Now that, would be worth it.
