Hey guys. Just in need of some advice. I recently came across a lucky find in the AH - a plate shield with a Piercing Max uv. After some time trying to sell it, I finally gave up and decided to just use it. So I was thinking, should I stick it on a Volcanic Plate Shield or an Ironmight Plate Shield?

Well, it is from what I read. Obviously, a huge amount of defence does get to diminishing returns, but there was also something about similar uv defending a greater amount of damage. I could be wrong on that point, but others are still correct.
Get a VPS with that if you wish, but if you ever wish to have a dedicated piercing shield, you should craft something else.

Status Resistance = Max -> Branch (all others stack)
Defense = Max, High, Med, Low -> Stack
I think you should stack it into an Ironmight Plate Shield.

max pierce will outperform a med pierce, because Ironmight doesn't have all that much Pierce defense. A max UV doenst quite max out the pierce on it. That being said, how much you selling it for? i'd be intrigued.

I was under the impression ironmight hasthe most pierce defence, along with the royal jelly shield. If we are talking about bar length, they do go beyond the visible.

that is the normal defense that is highest. Pierce defense is on par with barb thorn shield.

I would make that into an Ironmight Plate Shield I think Perronius is spot on (I was thinking value of Max status resistance, which is considerably more then Max defense).

From what the number crunching and people who test the effect of uv's, it seems that a type defence uv benefits one more on a shield with the same defence type.
Not to mention, one would use one shield for each damage type, or use a performance boosting shield like bts or swiftstrike. Plate shield does not go into any of such shields, so I advise ironmight.
