Why aren't Vanaduke's Slag Guards immue to fire?

This has always bugged me (along with the fact that they make the Trojan "neigh" when they die). Not that I'm really complaining since I use the Pepperbox.

No, but

Beasts don't do elemental damage, doesn't stop them from being resistant to it.

different hiring pool. Qualifications included way-huge hitbox, random advantageous animation skips and camera exploiting, but it didn't say anything about fire-retardant clothing.

In case you haven't noticed yet, a monster that deals some kind of status is generally immune to it, so in the reverse, if it doesn't inflict it then the status can be applied to it. There is a few exceptions like curse not working on Fiends/Undead and sleep not working on [constructs iirc].
