Simple, instead of forcing everyone to give up a specific 4* weapon for prestige, let players craft and give any variant of the same line, with different rewards for each star level.
So If the mission says:
-silent nightblade for 200 prestige
i coudl also give:
-regular nigthblade for 100 prestige
-a plain brandish for 25 prestige
An alternative for not over-the-top players to still get some points, if they ever become usefull, while still giving an advantage to mastercard or visa owners.
This actually makes a lot of sense.

good idea. when i see those 4-5* items for trade i simply pass.
but i wouldnt mind crafting a 1-2* for at least some of that prestige.
i dont know a single person in my guild that would throw away 4-5* gear for some as of right now useless prestige.
added bonus much more ce/cr out of the system resulting in less inflated cr value.

Yes, but with excluding the situation that when game asks you for 4* stuff you may choose to give 5* stuff. You should be able to give something lower star wise so it actually supports those who are too poor to meet requirements so they still get some reduced prestige amount, instead of supporting rich money wasters to gain even more prestige.
Or if they like they may turn in 5* stuff but they will still get prestige like for 4*
Similar mechanic that I proposed somewhere here.
If you don't get the exact item they want, you still get prestige, but at a significantly reduced rate.
This way, this ensures that there is an 'easy way out', but it's not quite as rewarding; heck, it disincentivizes cheating your way around prestige missions with different sets of equipment.
