I posted this here since this had to do more with the style of playing rather then what i got form playing the test server recently. I actually am referring to more to the Ghostmane Stalker and LD equipment. Idk how entirely to work it in as well. But shield alternatives to pure defense? Maybe a weaker shield that can only take one hit, but allows you to move a lot faster. I tend to play jelly king with out a shield as practice and cause its fun. You could add more styles to the way people play this way, similar to what you did for lock down but fit into the clockworks with items you craft. It most likely would only work for the shield since that gets replaced in lockdown anyway. But back to the Ghostmane Stalker again. I think their also should be more armor and accessories that match the style you have of their scarf. Although you can't really say items are "static" in the game, but the scarf on these enemies defiantly have a lot more "life" then then normal items. Yeah vog, and ash tail, ect. have animations but they don't have the same interaction the scarfs do. Its kinda like how you added the rocket hammer, its a new style of weapon thats really neat. I think adding new styles of items will liven up game play. That includes weapons too :D
