Similar Problem

I had a similar problem, in a similar area on the test server. Making the best of a bad situation, I decided to kill off the 2 gun puppies, which were being healed by 2 Gremlin Menders who were in an out of my limits of sight. After about 10-15 minutes, the monsters had been killed, and I decided to see if I could get back to the path. No such luck.

I thought they had fixed the bug I experienced. Maybe this is a new one.
