New Coliseum Game: TEAM RACING

I've had this idea stuck in my head and I can't shake it. It's pretty lengthy, but I'm trying not to make it too specific to give devs as much creative control over it as possible. SO! *Inhales deeply* Here goes~! =_=

RACING!
TEAMS:
Okay, so basically, like blast network or lockdown, players who enter are split into 2 teams (for ease of reference, blue and red in diagrams).
One person from each team is chosen (either by AI system, or voted by players of that team) to be the RUNNER.
The RUNNER will be the one who is actively participating in the race, the rest are his assistants.

RACING:
Both the Runner and the Assistants will be transported to a map when the game starts. This map consists of two paths similar to a clockworks level ( I guess :S ) The Runner will be at the starting line, the Assistants will be at a locker room. The Runner's job is to get from start to finish before the other team's Runner. Obstacles such as gates and enemies will be obstructing his goal. Many of these obstacles can be tackled by the Runner himself, but a good number cannot. This is where the Assistants come in. The Assistants have a separated path from their Runner, however paths may run close to eachother so Assistants can help fight off enemies with the Runner, or flip switches on their path a Runner cannot get to. Runners can also hit triggers that advance Assistants along.

Partial Map Example (Per Team)

Basically, Assistants use their path to either fight or advance a Runner through, let's say, an impassable gate, and a Runner may have to even do the same for his Assistants before they can advance. Runners may be pressed against a difficult battle room, and Assistants's paths will be close enough so that they could help out the fight by shooting guns they've equipped. (Downed Runners should respawn back at start, or maybe at designated checkpoints)

As said before, each race should have 2 teams, each with one Runner and a set of Assistants competing to get their runner to the finish the fastest.

GET CREATIVE! I know you guys at OOO are pretty creative guys, should this be even considered (very small chance, but it would be AWESOME if you guys did) I can't wait to see what you guys come up with! ^o^

I love it! The only issue

I love it! The only issue would be an AFK or easy-dying Runner (Which could be easily avoided if there were 2 Runners per team). Other than that, this would be quite awesome, especially with that PvP twist.

Sounds like fun

One question on the assistants helping the runner: would they be able to temporarily enter in the runner's path in the case of an impassible gate requiring to kill mobs to get by? If they can't I imagine that bombs and swords would have trouble helping the guy unless the assistants had to kill mobs on their own path.

It would have to have those misty gates that let certain knights in and others out though (in this case, Runners and Assistants)

Nice.

Lol I thought its a motorcycle race or something like that.... Well your idea is good

Now my idea:
Both runners equipped with LD jetpacks( striker)
Runner's route much loonger than helper's
Helpers can activate traps for enemy runner (5 second traps for single use ). Switches to these traps are guarded by spawning mobs ( If helpers r not fast enough, enemy runner can simply bypass that trap.)

Runner cant die , but can be frosen or stunned by trap ( they work only 5 seconds after activation) or a gunpuppy (deal only status).
Helpers can die and must clear they way to trapswitch in time to catch enemy runner with trap (otherwise they quickly retreat and go to another switch room). Also helpers must open gates for runners (same team).

So both runner and helpers are hard to play ( runner hav no shield so 1 hit with puppy will stun)

P.S. There is only stunning gunpuppies , single use traps ( stun or freeze. Each trap last 5 sec), and closed gates on runner's route.
