So I have both, but I can only upgrade one at a time. I'm trying to get 5* gear so I'd like some advice on which is a better option to upgrade. I already have a Firotech (Mk II) so the fire status isn't gonna help much there.

Can I say neither?
You have an elemntal gun, another weapon of same damage type would be redundant (fireburst) and bad because you will lack any other form of damage for elemental resistant monsters.
Normal damage (calibur) is somewhat fine, but wastes potential.
Your best bet is some peirce or shadow stuff.

Here's a guide
It does specialized damage. Leviathan (5* Calibur) is a great support sword for gunners and bombers, but if you plan on being a swordsman you should just avoid it.
