I have a discussion about this in the discussion forums.

This is the actual suggestion.

If eventually you see two threads in this forum regarding this topic because someone moved it here, that is not my fault at all.

What is overpowered:

1. All swordsman, gunner, and bomber specific gear. This includes gear like Nameless, Snarbolax, Deadshot, Mad bomber, Vog Cub, you name it. If it is sword / bomb / gun specific, it is currently breaking this game.

Armor like Jelly, Skelly, Grey Feather, and Cobalt lines are made for defense. These armors are completely ruined when the specialty armor / "class" specific armor stated in beginning of number 1. has defences equal or slightly off, possibly even much greater.

How we fix this is make all bomb / gun / sword specific armor give only normal defense. The armor is made for offense and not defense. Status resistance is fine, doesn't break the other armor.

2. Swords + AP and Sentenza are dealing too much damage. Slightly nerf the damage of swords, and then the damage of AP and Sentenza. Currently Sent and AP are dealing almost the amount of damage a full combo of GF and DA deal. Guns should deal less damage than swords. That is by nature.

3. Polaris interrupting gun puppy / any attacks. It is too overpowered on gun puppies, making things like rocket puppies (one of the last challenging monsters) a joke.

4. Haze bombs' haze effect should not last as long as it does. Their duration should be quick to cause a status on monsters in the radius, and possibly linger for a short amount of time. Right now, Haze bombs (specifically shivermist, I view it as way too broken) need the nerf.

5. Freeze status itself. Its duration needs to be reduced, to sort of be in line with not allowing things to be freeze locked with a shivermist buster.

The goal of 4 and 5 is obviously to make shivermist less broken.

Anyways, nerfing things that are overpowered is necessary to bring balance into a game. I was overjoyed when the devs nerfed DR bomb which shows that they are taking nerfing things into consideration. Taking it where it needs to be taken will be perfect for this game.

Mabye some nerfs, but not all of those

I do agree some things are OP, but some things must be taken into account, like not everyone is especially skilled at this game, or video games in general. Also some things are useless because they are not strong enough, like the Volcanic Pepperbox.

1. I don't agree that weapon specific armor should be made normal only.

Currently in T3 armor doesn't make much of a difference unless you have a lot of it. There's a reason why it's better not to get hit in the first place. If they were to be nerfed I'd say negative status resists (like what shadowsun has) would be a better choice, further punishing you for getting hit. What needs to happen more though is a buff to armors made for defense, so they actually help defend against attacks, which is the issue.

2. Maybe.

Can't say much about swords, as I don't use them much, but the AP and sentenza could use a small damage nerf I guess. Gotta keep in mind though the a DA/GF combo can be done to a crowd of mobs, while AP/Sentenza cant land all six shots on 4 mobs at once. I do like using my hail driver over my AP in some cases due to the freeze effect, gotta keep in mind damage isn't everything.

3. I disagree, as it would not solve the main issue.

Nerf Polaris but not Supernova? Gotta do both or people will just take the Supernova instead. That aside the shock from Polaris can still interrupt gun puppy attacks not to mention how fast it can be fired, so it will still destroy them either way.

4. I disagree.

Haze bombs trade damage for utility in status effects. Do this and it will be one less thing to stop the ever popular skolver/toothpick combo in LD, making it more imbalanced than it was before. It'll also make the brandish line outclass them, as it will put the same status effects on a good sized crowd and kill them at the same time. It's also one of unique things that bombers have that gunners and swordies do not have.

5. I disagree.

The freeze status does not deal any damage unless it times out. Not to mention People will just use VT or the stun bomb instead. If a nerf were applied I think allowing frozen victims to turn would be better. They'll still be stuck in place, but you can't just walk up behind them and unload a fully charged blitz needle into them.

TL;DR - Yes, some things are OP, but nerfs are not always the answer.

I agree with Trollingyou on points 1 and 2.

I'd like to state however, that the Supernova would not need a nerf when compared to the Polaris. The Polaris outclasses it so completely, there's no incentive to even use the Supernova that I can think of. As long as Polaris doesn't get uber-nerfed, a small nerf to put it in line; so people actually have to make a CHOICE, would be nice.

I think it's unfair to reduce all the time on all haze bombs for the sake of the Shivermist...maybe just give more enemies a little bit of freeze resistance. It wouldn't really make sense, having Slags with a tiny bit of freeze resistance (Though when you think about it, fire should be able to melt through ice pretty well, not to mention DFV is impossible to freeze), but it might prevent it being so powerful there.

My point with Polaris vs Supernova

Even if it were nerfed and the Supernova left the same, It would still be pretty outclassed. Polaris has shock (of which it applies often), which will interrupt attacks. The only thing Supernova has on Polaris right now is dealing more damage to fiend, slime, beast and gremlins, yet people do not choose it because there are better things for those type of mobs.

I said what I did in the first post cause it sounded like he didn't want anything interrupting gunpuppies. I don't agree with nerfing the Supernova at all.

I noticed

I noticed that your saying the main problems that are making the game to easy are certain pieces of gear. But I think you over looked one problem, the over nerfing of the enemies.

I think that it is time to rebuff the enemies that were nerfed, or at least for tier 3 players.

NO!

You are NOT nerfing my mad bomber! It already has max weakness to almost every status... And to make it weaker? NO! @Sev Reason for supernova is it has like 2x Polaris knockback.

I'm actually fine with skolvers going normal resist only, but it's not going to do anything for some of us like me, as I don't plan to gt pierce weapons or DBB, but I am thinking about a Sentenza for the fun of it...
(AND REVENGE ON ALL THOSE STUPID SPAMMERS! EVEN THOUGH I KINDA GOT THAT WITH THE RSS SPAM LIKE CRAP! RSS FTW!!)

How would you like it if all of your armor, weapons, and shield got nerfed? If you nerf mad bomber your doing that to me with the armor giving me more damage on my beloved bombs. Just except the shield.( Working on blackened crest! No help to you, missions! Came too late! Only 5 tokens more better play!

btw, no matter what you say, all nerfs and buffs are driven by ones selfish needs, those who wants buffs propably use those weapons/items, those who want nerfs got once killed by those weapons/armor users or got annoyed or even worse they dont use them and dont want to use them so they want to make them useless for everyone else
. Or maybe they want to use something but its bad so the demand a buff to make this item better so they can use it?

all nerf and buffs are driven by selfish needs and are attempt to alter WHOLE gameplay to just suit ones needs.

Really now?

I'm not really sure PVE even demands balancing. When you've ultimately got a cooperative game, does all equipment really need to be balanced? Parity only becomes a problem when players are in direct competition, IE, in Lockdown. But any changes made for Lockdown will also affect PVE. This is your real balance issue; how do you create gear parity in Lockdown without ruining the PVE experience for a large swath of players? The simplest answer is... you don't. Some gear simply will be better than other gear as long as they're only balancing to PVE, and that's just something you eventually accept. If you're having problems in Lockdown specifically, I advise you either start playing to the metagame--that is, understand the gear and strategy your opponents are likely to use, then prepare yourself for those challenges--or stop playing Lockdown.

Now, if you're legitimately complaining that certain people are doing better than others in PVE. Uh. Deal with it. Man/woman the heck up. If you really can't stand that someone is dealing more damage than you in a cooperative setting, then you can shut right the heck up and get better gear. It's nobody else's fault that you made poor gearing decisions, and this is from somebody whose first fully-upgraded sword was the Khorovod.* Now, if certain lines were to be buffed in order to make them more competitive, I'd be the last one complaining. Buffs to weapons like the Supernova--and while we're at it, the Valiance, Iron Slug, and Sudaruska--wouldn't hurt anyone. But mass nerfs? Mass nerfs screw over a whole lot of people. I don't imagine that's really what you want to do.

*EDIT: I just realised this is incorrect. My first fully-upgraded sword was actually the Cautery Sword. But that's even better.

While buffs to SOME gear (I'm looking at YOU Ionized Salt Bomb, and YOU ALSO Irontech, and don't forget YOU Pepperbox!) would be perfect, nerfing everything else just makes people mad. Want harder gameplay for the common setup? You're not alone. Suggest some tough levels. (Or try killing all of RJP with only the Firecracker >=) should be tough enough)

As for defensive gear being defensive... DON'T YOU TOUCH MY HEAVY DEMO SUIT, just buff the defensive armors so they actually, y'know, do something.

Hehe just a thought...

Just something to say, but I bet I could beat RJP with a firecracker. Mad Bomber and blast trinkets help a lot, and I have a max charge reduction with a high jelly attack on my fire cracker (convenient, isn't it?) with me it's like 1 bomb per sec with 80 damage per bomb. Amazing for 1* isn't it?

I want to reach through my monitor and punch you for suggesting that there shouldn't be a way to interrupt a tier 3 rocket puppy's attack considering its current RoF. Or the fact you don't understand what the word game breaking means.

I'm not going to humor you and rebut all your asinine 'suggestions', so I'll just say this. You want a challenge? Go play the entire game in proto armor. Balance means nothing in PvE. If these were complaints against PvP, you might have merit, but you don't.

these suggestions are okay ... :P i do agree that PVP is broken... but not so much due to some armor and weapons being better than the rest...

Disable UV's in PVP .. Seriosuly

its not fair for 2 ppl to have the same thing and one's is not as good cause the other guy has got a good UV
