I saw this once before and I believe it is because the texture resource isn't available for whatever reason. If you update/reinstall the game it'll get fixed.

This happens when the file can not be found. I did it to swords a while back
It is probably a bad idea to post this on the forum as your are basically promoting that you have tampered with the files to the Admins.
(Which is against the ToS... just saying.)

I like..
I like the idea that this is swarm based armor seeing as your files got corrupted. And the swarm corrupts stuff.

I have not ever touched my files. Ever. Nor have I ever used any third party client like SpiralSpy. This happened on its own.

Fair enough.
Swarm based armor you say? must have been lots of work grabbing the materials for that.
