Currently have Volcanic demo helm, mad bomber suit, Nearly all bombs at 4* some at 5*, VPS shield. Dark thorn blade, ascended cal, fang of vog, and a faust and prisma driver

I struggle against fiends and Kats the most probably because they move alot and use range

You can get all the statuses from mist bombs.

This is an impossible

This is an impossible question to answer with the information provided. Even then, the choice between Combuster, Voltedge, and Glacious comes entirely down to preferences.

If you want a single sword to be used on everything, then you'll have a problem no matter what. Elemental Brandishes don't work well on gremlins and beasts. The Acheron (shadow brandish) doesn't work well on undead and fiends.

If you only want a single sword and do not want to have to switch it out, then go with a leviathan blade (same attack pattern for regular attacks) since it is a normal weapon. If you are going to switch between swords for each level, then get an Acheron and one of the 3 elemental brandishes.

Out of the 3 elemental swords, I prefer combuster only because fire does not stop monsters from riding the wave of explosions. Freeze and shock can stop them in place so they don't get hit by the full damage of the charge attack. There are benefits of shock and freeze, but I apply shock with my Voltaic Tempest and I don't care for freeze.

Nordlead's post still stands.

Nordlead's post still stands. The difference in the brandishes is the status, and thus only in the charge. Which of the 3 do you prefer. Fire for more damage, shock for clumping, or freeze for control.

Side arm is typically a

Side arm is typically a pistol by the way (though daggers would count as well).

I am not really the one to answer the question from the standpoint of a bomber, though I think most purists would echo Trying's sentiment. From a stand point of a sword user if you were having problems with Devilites and Kats and want a sword to dispatch them, then the answer is simple: BTB/FF. This blade is the best sword for dealing with fiends and I have found it to be very useful for Kats as well due to its speed (though it only hits neutral on them).

From a bomber standpoint wouldn't the answer to these be to place an Electron Vortex bomb followed by Radiant Sunshards? or to work an Electron Vortex in conjunction with a Combuster or Voltedge? or use the Snarby bomb (DBB) for the Fiends and either AoA or Voltaic Tempest for the Kats?

The dash that they do will

The dash that they do will carry them out, like trojans. A blanket vt will work better immobilizing them.

Your problem seems to be enemies movng a lot. Get a Glacius. Still, a shivermist would do a better job at that.

IF you're using bombs, I'd

IF you're using bombs, I'd say Glacius will help you lock them in place to follow up with a bomb blast.

... Seems a bit backwards

... Seems a bit backwards (Lock/grab with bomb & damage with a sword is the more typical approach)... If you want to lock enemies that you can't hit with a vortex then the Shiv seems like a better choice.

Also to the OP I'd suggest either voltedge or glacius, depends on if you like a little knockback or crowd control.
