A Plausible Way to "nerf" Wolver Gear...

I have been thinking while playing Spiral Knights on a way to "nerf" Wolver Gear. Now I don't hate Wolver (in fact I use it ;D) ,but I'm pretty sure the entire community agrees, Wolver Gear IS at an advantage to other gear. Looking at how Three Rings "suggests" how to use Wolver I came up with a a couple of options for some simple fixes.
I looked at Echo and realized that he mentions how it is essential for a "striker" to strike fast and hard. I also looked at LD for more reference. The Striker equipment (I know, I know kind of obvious) makes you faster ,BUT it is in here that you will find the answer. Strikers don't have as much HEALTH or DEFENSE as other equipment. Also, Wolvers don't have quite a truck load of health :b.
I figured out, why not get rid of one or two bars of defense OR lower the health bonuses. This MAINTAINS the purpose people use this armor. To get sword bonuses and have special defense (fire, freeze, and poison). Also I find people say they like it ,too, because it has no weaknesses. What do you think? How would this effect game play? Would it even make a SLIGHT difference?

Maybe for all armors

After looking at it for a while I think all helms/armors should have differing health bonuses for example plate gear should have a bigger heath bonus (maybe 2 or three higher than it is right now).

I still don't understand how you can use a weapon that slow...but something tickle's everyone's fancy, I suppose.

Running solo in RJP, a charged Khorovod will kill nearly everything if it hits with both parts. I've recently been using that instead of my Electron Bomb, since Jelly Cubes will usually bunch up without the help of the vortex.

As I recall from other threads, though, Tsu uses a Swiftstrike Buckler, meaning her Sudaruska isn't quite as slow as you may be thinking.

Fallen+Swifty= ASI ultra to anything i get my hands on... that's EXTREMELY useful... not to mention my Suda has ASI low on it... >:3

I'm thinking of getting two elite focus for Max CTR on it... hehehehehehehehehehhehe.................

What? I could have used Wolver, and i dont like it... but fact is (And this is a FACT) the wolver sets out class most of any other set.

We know that Wolver has a massive advantage over any gear, if you want to use swords, which many do, seeing as they deal the most damage. And the majority of the comunity agrees, even those who own skolver/Vog/Snarby sets... Using the wolver sets has almost no downside.

That brings the question: Why the crud would you use any other gear? Ever?
Not to mention: Gunner equivalent sets get less UV's due to starting at 3* and bombers only get Elemental Defense.

So, let me thank you for shoving your opinion of the OP and trying to put words in their mouth. Really mature and nice and stuff. /sarcasm

What I figure is... You might have the wolver set, and you enjoy being at the top of the heap... Just speculation, but thats what you are saying to me with that last post. Too bad you kinda showed me how badly you want to keep that unfair advantage. -.-

Because of what Tsu said "Why the crud would you use anything else?" I would like to have a choice between gear instead of it being, " You CAN use xxx ,BUT if you do you'll be losing ALOT of bonuses and power without anything in return. Why switch out my Dusker for a Jelly Set when I could me getting the same health VERY similar defense AND sword bonuses?!

Wolver needs more actual striker qualities... no question about that.. but alas the devs enjoy seeing nothing but wolver clones in LD, the CW, everywhere.

Why be original when you can pwn anyone right?

BTW, Asuka, an fyi... I wear full bomber gear, go striker and pwn the wolver noobs with my grintovec (grintovec... you know... the most useless 2-hit in PvP?) on. More experienced players find me harder to beat as striker. I go guardian or recon, it's over for me (being a killer anyway...). So LD in and of itself needs balance, the devs have seen this multiple times so I'll stop that discussion here. Basis is, were I to wear wolver, nobody would enjoy me much either.

Anywho... +1 to minor nerfing of wolver clones +1 to the nerfing of other gears as well.. just make it one or the other not both.

Good idea. You can also apply this to gunner and bomber gear. It would be nice if weapon specific gear makes you a better sordie/gunner/bomber, but you sacrifice some defense in return.
