i am on a AMD phenom quad core with plaenty of ram and a good video card. i went camping and came back to an update... after applying this update, i can no longer launch the game, getting an error of "could not create java virtual machine"
i have uninstalled and updated all revlevant software (drivers, java, and sk client) and still get the same error
interestingly, i can load the test server(though not log on, as it says its not available at the moment)
i can still play on my laptop, but not nearly as well.
any help with this would be appreciated

i uninstalled the game and
i uninstalled the game and all traces of java, restarted the pc and reinstalled update 31 of x86 and x64 of java, then reinstalled sk. same error

Do you get a "projectx.log"
Do you get a "projectx.log" file in Spiral Knight's directory? If you do, could you post its contents?

I'm going to say it's a bad
I'm going to say it's a bad install because it's unable to read random files like tooltip_simple.png.
I don't use Steam (Linux user :D), but I've read there's a button in your account's settings you can use to uninstall Spiral Knights. "Remove local data," or something like that. Anyway, you could try that if you don't have any game saves on your computer and then try reinstalling Spiral Knights afterwards. That should let Spiral Knights run.

that is what i was doing before, and in fact was the praoblem... i now told steam to uninstall sk, then deleted sk directory and reinstalled. fine now, thanks much for your help though

Maybe you had two bad
Maybe you had two bad installs in a row? Strange. :/
Have you tried uninstalling all versions of Java from your computer and installing Java 6 Update 31 32-bit and Java 6 Update 31 64-bit?
