One of the things that is unique to Spiral Knights is the face that everything is item/ armour/ weapon based. Strip away all of that and the characters are the same. Now I love this system but I feel like there should be something more to connect us to one specific knight besides name.

This is my idea.

After the last mission you talk to Punch. He tells you that if you prove your skill he will Punch you.

In order for him to do so you must:
::::kill however many of the creatures that you have died to most often and second most often(EXCLUDING BOSSES)(Also these are locked at this point and will not change).
::::this will only be accomplished in regular arcade runs

Now for the creature that you died the second most often to you will need to kill, say 3000 of them. For this & 4000ce he will give you one of the following as decided by you:

normal res inc LOW
piercing res inc LOW
elemental res inc LOW
shadow res inc LOW
stun res inc LOW
freeze res inc LOW
sleep res inc LOW
poison res inc LOW
fire res inc LOW
shock res inc LOW
curse res inc LOW

After that and only after you will be instructed to kill, say 10,000, of whichever creature has killed you most often. For this & 4000ce he will give you one of the following as decided by you:

normal res inc MED*
piercing res inc MED*
elemental res inc MED*
shadow res inc MED*
stun res inc MED*
freeze res inc MED*
sleep res inc MED
poison res inc MED*
fire res inc MED*
shock res inc MED*
curse res inc MED*
construct dmg inc MED
gremlin dmg inc MED
fiend dmg inc MED
beast dmg inc MED
undead dmg inc MED
slime dmg inc MED
CTR LOW
ASI LOW

*cannot be the same as the first one you received

These bonuses will be permanently added to you knight.
I feel that this will increase endgame content and the diversity of knights. Also I feel it will increase arcade runs by the volume of monsters that need to be slain to gain these benefits.

I will now attempt to head off some questions.
Making knights OP
The bonuses are generally pretty low so I feel that this won't be an issue.

4000ce?!? are you insane?!?!
Even grabbing the bare minimum amount of crowns the sheer number of runs and crowns gained will be more than enough to create this amount

FINAL WORD
All monsters will need a damage increase vs off armoured knights and ASI max

As always,

lol.

" if you prove your skill he will Punch you."

Yikes. I don't want to get Punch'd.

On a more related note, I think this is erm...

First: Biased to people with Elevator Passes.

Second: Makes the game obscenely grind-based. 10,000 of those enemies? Really? I know it's a permanent bonus, but I'd never grind it intentionally. It'd just happen after playing forever, like Master Miner, but longer.

I don't know about anyone else, but I kinda like the fact that SK is a more casual game. Sure, you can grind. If you have an EP you can do whatever you want, or if you don't, you can spend CE to do the more rewarding missions like KoA.

This kinda goes against everything SK currently is, from a casual game, to being ridiculously grind-based. The only other grind-based thing is the Master Miner achievement, which just happens over time. You don't have to go to certain places and kill certain enemies, like this suggests.

Aside from that, I'm not particularly fond of perma-bonuses that your Knight magically gets...especially since he doesn't have a "level" in this game.
